No Flowers for Guys?

Danielle, on June 22, 2021 at 12:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
I've planned my wedding a total of three times, and when we finally cancelled because the reception hall went out of business, two of our vendors gave us nothing back (they had been paid in full!) Now we're planning a very small, very casual thing on family property. My fiance said that he doesn't really need a bouttonnierre. Has anyone ever done that? Is it weird? It would only save about $30 but it's something.

I've seen plenty of wedding where they skipped the boutonnieres! We're only having my FH wear one, and the rest of the guys aren't

I don't think anyone will notice if you skip them. You could do pocket squares instead since those only cost like $9

My fiancé didn’t want one for him or his groomsmen either! He said it reminded him too much of prom haha. We are not doing boutonnières for dads/grandfathers and also not doing corsages for moms/grandmas, easy way to save a little bit of money, and they won’t be missed!

I don’t think it’s weird. We are not having boutonnières either. Groom and groomsmen are wearing a bow tie with suspenders. No jackets, no boutonnières.

None of our men had bouts. No one wanted them. And most of our Grandmothers and Mom's etc who might wear a coursage were wearing flimsy silky dresses that can be damaged by fastening them on. In the end, one great aunt had a corsage for a jacket, and we split one flower bundle of 5-6 blossoms each for 8 woman , 1.25 per stem. The Inn had a stock of small-med size vases, so s small vase of gold and purple is was at the dinner place of each woman who might have worn a coursage. At 6.50 to 8.75 each, these were inexpensive too.

If our wedding had gone as planned, we wouldn't have had any florals for the guys. My husband doesn't like boutonnieres, so they were just going to have their pocket squares. Wouldn't have been missed at all.

We didn't have any flowers (except my bouquet) when we had our Covid elopement. For our wedding celebration, the guys did have boutonnieres but we had considered dropping them to reduce costs. I honestly don't think it matters. Its a small detail that no one will "miss" if you don't include it.

My profile pic (and most of the pics in my WW account) are from my elopement if you are looking for examples. I hope to have some comparison pics from our wedding celebration to add soon!

We aren't doing floral ones. We plan on getting grape soda pins to be placed where a boutonnière would go. (Disney-themed wedding) I've also seen pocket squares instead.

We are not using them. My FH and his men will have colored pocket squares.
