No flower girl?

Violet, on October 1, 2019 at 7:56 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10

I am wondering is it bad to have no flower girl, but to have a ring bearer? I have a 6yo brother who is going to be our ring bearer, but my FH and I do not have any other young children in our family. My best friend who is my bridesmaid has suggested we use her niece who is 7yo. For me I think it's a little odd to have someone in the wedding that very few people in the wedding would know other than myself. I guess I'm asking if you have had/been to wedding without a flower girl? Should we just have the church runway lined w/ flowers?

A flower girl isn’t a necessity. You could like the aisle with flowers in advance or just skip them.

I’ve got 2 ring bearers, one for each ring, and no flower girls! Your wedding, your way! The end!

It’s totally not weird. I have two nephews (a 3-year-old and 6-month-old) and the eldest is my ring bearer. There were certainly little girls I COULD have asked to be my flower girl, but honestly it felt kind of forced. I just don’t have any young girls that are important in my life atm, and that’s ok! I just imagine how cute my nephew is going to be coming down the aisle and my heart is too full to even care about having a flower girl. 😊

You can break tradition and have your Grandmother's do it. I've been seeing this a lot lately. If you google "Granny flower girls" tons of videos come up. https://www.today.com/style/these-grandmothers-are-world-s-most-adorable-flower-girls-t100785

Do whatever you want. I have the opposite. I have a flowergirl and no ring bearer. FH's daughter will be the flower girl but she is the only child invited to our wedding (for obvious reasons). Other than that, there will be no kids at our wedding.

My brother had 4 ring bearers and 0 flower girls. There were no young girls in the family at the time but young boys on both sides. My fiance and I have the opposite problem, now! We both have nieces and he has a god daughter. We elected to have 3 flower girls and 2 ring bearers (a close friends son and his cousins son). My point is, you can do whatever you want! It's your day!

Like others have said do it your way. i have no ring bearer. one flower girl. but i say either have an aunt, grandmother, or other special person to you throw the flowers. Or even more unique, give a small bag of flowers to the guests in the seats along the aisle and have them "throw" them out starting from the back to the front. I think they would enjoy playing a special part in the day.
