No first dance??

Jessica, on October 17, 2020 at 1:24 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
My fiancé and I are not dancers what so ever. We don’t want to do a first dance, in fact we’ve never danced together during our 5 years together. are there other alternatives for first dance?? Would it be bad to have a father daughter dance but not a first dance with the future husband?

You guys can do whatever you want! I wouldn’t think anything of it if I were a guest...

I feel like a lot of people don’t pay attention to it to begin with.

Countless weddings have no dancing at all. Beyond the first dance, guests don't pay attention to parent dances. Do what works for you

We felt the same way! If we had a first dance, it would literally be the first time we ever danced together. So we were like, why would we do that? It felt so inauthentic, so we are opting to skip it Smiley smile

You could just skip the dances that you don't want to do! You could choose to do just one dance, or whatever combination you want. If you want to replace it with something, you could add in a trivia game, or a slideshow of pictures throughout your relationship, or just don't replace it with anything. You can do whatever you'd like!

You should do whatever makes the two of you happy! You don’t have to do anything you aren’t comfortable with.

I feel like it wouldn’t be us with dancing. I’m the youngest of 3, and I want to do a father daughter dance because of that but I don’t know.. or maybe I should do a slideshow of all of the pictures of the two of us. I don’t know!! So many options 😂😂

Years ago, I went to a wedding where the couple did a first "walk". That was nice and graceful as the music played.

Our first dance was the first (and only) time I have ever danced with my husband, lol. It was also long and awkward but enjoyable.
Could you start with a first dance and then after the first verse your DJ could invite all married couple up to join you. That way you weren’t dancing alone?

He took her by the arm and they walked slowly almost like in the movies when you see the people going for a slow paced stroll, with 1800's outfits type on. Like people "courting" in the 1800 movie scenes and the women have the long dresses and big hats on like from the 1800's. And they also sort of spoke to each other and chuckled of laughed a little as they walked slowly. I believe they did a full square around the ballroom dance floor. Just being gentlemanly and lady like. Maybe whispering and stuff like that. Music was playing a love song. We just watched. It took about 4 minutes max.

Have fun with it, you can even twirl at some points. As I look for places for my client, I notice that some places aren't offering dance floors now anyway due to the pandemic. Wishing you both an awesome and safe wedding day and many happy tomorrows.

You can skip it! I want to skip mine so badly, but my fiancé wants to do it. We’re cutting the song so that it’s short, though.

I would skip it. If you really want to replace it you can play the shoe game.
