No Engagement Photos???

Maddy, on April 23, 2020 at 8:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
So because of the Stay at Home order, my fiancé and I are unable to get our engagement photos taken at the moment. We got engaged in January and our wedding is in December. We wanted to send out our STDs no later than June with our engagement photos because our photographer can get fined $1000 for taking pictures since it is not an ‘essential’ business. Has anyone else experienced this? Should we just get a friend to take photos on a smartphone?

There’s plenty of save the date templates without photos.

The one that we wanted, that my fiancé chose, is just one big picture. I’d really like to do that since invitations don’t have pictures, and he never gives a strong opinion, but he did on this.

You can just use your favorite picture that you have with each other and if none of them is up to par go ahead and phone a friend. I chose STDs and thank you cards without photographs.

I’m surprised that the photographer isn’t willing to work like freelanced or “as a friend” and still take your photos; especially since it would just be the three of you. However, I understand they’d rather be safe than sorry. It’s respectable. I think that taking them on a smartphone would still be nice! Good luck to you! I
Hope you find the perfect photo, whether it’s old or new. 😃

I would just have someone else take a few nice photos! We did have engagement photos done, but we actually used a different one for our save the date lol. We had set up a tripod and take a cute picture of us that we used (we sent the save the dates before we knew we were going to get engagement photos)

We Arent Having Engagement Photos Taken, Mostly Because Hes Still Deployed But Its Not Really Something Needed For Us Anyway. If You Want Photos Done Just Keep Looking For Someone Else Or Wait Until The Stay At Home Order Is Lifted, Even Tho You May Be Late With The Photos At Least You Would End Up Having Nice Ones!

Can you find another photographer who is local who would be willing? Maybe a friend knows someone? Otherwise, if you have a friend who is good with taking photos, why not do a mini photo shoot and use one of those photos! There are so many apps out there now to edit photos so they look really nice, I’m sure you can get a great photo for the save the date.

It’s their business at stake so I completely understand the position they’re in. Can you wait until July to send STD’s? We’re looking at postponing our engagement session to the end of May or in June depending on restrictions.

However we’re not as hard-pressed as we already mailed STD’s with a design rather than a photo.

We didn't do engagement photos because I didn't want them (I want wedding photos but generally hate having my picture taken). Our STDs didn't have photos on them. It's not a requirement, so you can always look for a design that you like without photos, if it comes to that and you need to get them out.

We didn’t do a photo for our save-the-dates, but we did do one for our thank you cards. We just took a selfie (on our phone) from our home and printed the cards through vista print. it turned out pretty nicely.

Where are you located? I follow a bunch of photographers on instagram and they are slowly starting to take engagement photos again. Maybe its coming for your state? If not, the iphone takes amazing photos these days.

I’m in Michigan and our SAH just got extended until May 15, and photographers are “non-essential” and can get fined $1,000 for shooting.

I'm in the same boat! Luckily I had some faux engagement photos done of us before I went through chemo treatment and we ended up using those! Now I'm tempted to not even get them done because what's the point? I already sent out the STDs and what else am I gonna use them for?

I would suggest picking a different photo of you guys that you love!
