No dancing - now what?

Sw1943, on August 10, 2020 at 8:18 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
Hello! We just got the red light on dancing for our 10/24/20 wedding and wanted to hear what other brides have or plan on doing for their reception for entertainment. We have 50 guests.

Have you considered games ? If you know someone handy you can make yard games, corn hole, jenga, connect 4, dominos etc

Definitely open and interested in games but worries they bring the same level of nervousness because people are obviously using the same pieces/touching the same objects 😔

What about like you and your husband doing the shoe game? Or a trivia game that wouldn't involve the guests sharing items? Other options would be to hire like a comedian or magician as a form of entertainment.

No dancing?? ☹️ Ugh this covid has really ruined things. I am planning a trivia game with my dj hosting while we have our social hour.
You can find some great options on Pinterest too!

We aren’t allowed dancing either, but we are having a short reception for our fifty guests and inviting them to join us if they want for other activities the rest of the day. Our venue was told masks are required unless a guest is seated at their table, no mingling, no dancing, and no buffets or passed food. Thanks Covid!
Right now, the plan is seated social hour with food at each table, breakfast served, first dance, crepe cake cutting, and the shoe game. I’ve felt the whole range of emotions, but at this point I’m just excited that we are finally getting married. I’m sure your day will be great!

You could station 2 disinfect sprays & hand sanitizer by every game

We were initially told no dancing, then that some dancing was ok but it had to be socially distanced, so we made the decision to cancel our DJ and just have a formal dinner instead of a traditional reception.

My venue isn't allowing other forms of entertainment either, like a photobooth, so as much as I would've loved to play games or something, that wasn't an option.

I'm super bummed about this, but we're hoping to have a bigger, more traditional celebration in a couple years.

Yard games are always fun and if you are indoors you can do table games. You can also play the shoe game and other trivia type games.
