Im having my wedding in key west next year. We are planning to get married on the beach and board a boat charter for our reception all inclusive with the same company. I got the proposal back and was going over the costs with my mother who i should mention we call partyzilla. So were going over the list of costs for each item for the beach ceremony. She noticed they were charging almost 20 per chair. We are only having 40 ppl at our wedding. She gave me the stink eye and said the chair set up is going to cost more than every other part of the ceremony combined. Which is true but what am i going to do?? She said we should all just stand around while we say our vows. It would be awesome to put that 1k somewhere else other than chairs but how can i not offer people a place to sit?!? Im going back and forth. I could see if it were 5-10 close relatives and thats it but 40 ppl?! I dunno, what do you think? Pay for the chairs, get rid of the chairs?

Bring in other chairs, OR get 3 for the elderly with reserve sings. Otherwise, keep it short and sweet and get rid of the chairs

I think it depends on how long the ceremony is and are there going to be any people there that are elderly (or have physical disabilities). I agree with other posters tho, find out if you can rent chairs from somewhere else.

I would do a front row on each side, label them reserved, and have elderly guests sat there. After that, provide thick but soft blankets, for everyone to sit on. Have a few of the large umbrellas for a little shade.

I suppose this is better thought out by asking, how formal is the ceremony itself?!

I think chairs look nice at a wedding. Gives you the center aisle. I would pay the money.

$20 is crazy. For my wedding they are $4 a chair plus a $50 labor fee. We still haven't decided for sure if we'll have chairs or not but $4 doesn't sound bad at all. We are having 20-25 people as guests. We don't have any elderly grandparents (all passed away). My uncle would be the oldest at 73 but he still plays softball so I think he can stand for 20 minutes. My only concern is if the sand is hot and it may be nice to sit if people are barefoot.
