Is anyone not hiring a ceremony musician? Our ceremony is going to be maybe 20 minutes MAX, and I cant justify spending $500+ for that short of time. I was going to just pay a family member to bring a bluetooth speaker and essentially "DJ" the reception, but idk what we're going to do about a...

Our DJ is doing ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music all for the same price. However, if that was not a part of his package we would not have spent the extra money just for a 20 minute ceremony.

Our venue had an aux cord hooked up to their speakers, so I just had a friend play music off of my phone for the ceremony.

We had a violinist for the pre-ceremony, ceremony and cocktail hour. She was $470 and so, so worth it. It was something I decided was super important to me from the beginning, and even though we didn't do any videography (so it wasn't captured in any way), I was so glad we spent the money. It just set our tone so perfectly and I still well up thinking about how she played my music of choice as I walked down the aisle.

Microphones were rented separately from the venue and somehow my FIL got them to give them to us for free?? Ha! I think you can probably buy (and then resell) a decently cheap mic and speaker set online from somewhere like Amazon or B&H if a microphone is your only concern.
