No center aisle!

Samantha, on May 24, 2016 at 11:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

We haven't locked down a church for our ceremony yet but of the 4 we have picked none of them have a center aisle... So two offset aisles. I've read about all the options but I'm still not sold. Has anyone had or attended a wedding with the same set up? Recommendations? Pictures?

Thanks!

The church I'm going to be married in also has two aisles. The way they sold it to me is, the aisle you walk down symbolizes your old life. After the ceremony, you walk up the other aisle with your husband, and it symbolizes your new life together.

I read that too, which is beautiful! Really my biggest concern is we have about 200 guests so it will be hard for everyone to see anyway but if I go down a side aisle even less people will be able to see and I don't want one side to feel shafted.

You can create a center aisle by having everyone sit on one side. We had a cathedral style church, no center aisle and that's what we did.

I'm having the same size wedding. I wouldn't worry about it. The other side will catch you on the way out Smiley winking

I'm deliberately changing the layout of my venue's ceremony seating to exclude a center aisle. I will be walking behind the guests and come up to their right, in front of a firepit and up a ramp instead of up the steep stairs in a fit-and-flare dress. I'm really excited for the dramatic effect :-)

I agree with PP, you can take the other side for your recessional.

You definitely have options - don't stress too much about it! You can process down one aisle and recess up the other, or shift all the guests around one aisle. Even when there's a center aisle, once everyone stands I can normally only catch a glimpse of the bride anyway Smiley smile

We have two aisles as well. We are going to use both.
