No bustle

Ariyana, on December 18, 2017 at 9:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
I am considering not bustling my wedding dress for the reception but instead holding on my wrist by the loop underneath. Has anyone not bustled there dress and regretted it? Any feed back would be great. I would have to pay to have the bustle put in as my dress did not come with a way to do it when i bought it. I just really don’t want to have to part with my dress and have it possibly messed up. Help!

I'm confused how do you bustle a dress? Do you mean the train??

Are you not getting alterations at all? Mines getting done with my fittings.
I didn’t want the weight of my dress on my arm all night. Seems like too much effort when I’m trying to be carefree and tipsy.

Depends on the material (I don't think this would work with tulle) and the weight. Consult your alterations person.

I had a bridesmaid dress with a small train that I didn't get bustled once and I ended up tripping on it when I turned quickly. It was a fun explaining that when I arrived to the hospital with a black eye and broken nose.

I really dislike wrist loops because they're heavy and cumbersome. If you spill one thing once it turns your dress into a waterslide (a wedding dress shop lady told me a horror story). I thought it would be a fun cute vintage touch but she talked me out of it.

I should have had a a small point bustle because for my first dance my dress kept getting caught between my legs. Get a bustle! Smiley smile

I had a bustle, but it ended up falling down about an hour into the reception. I’m not sure if the bustle broke or if it wasn’t pinned correctly, but we couldn’t get it to stay. I ended up having to use the wrist loop the rest of the night. It was fine... but I would have much rather it been bustled. It was a little annoying trying to dance or hold a drink while holding my dress up.

I think they are cute but would get heavy after awhile. I’m going with a bustle.

I had both a bustle and wrist loop and TBH while the wrist loop was great when we were doing photos (easy to pick the train up to move around) it got heavy and started cutting into my wrist pretty fast. I was very glad to bustle my dress once we were done with photos. Find a seamstress with good reviews and she won't mess it up!

Dresses don’t come bustled because they have to be bustled to your specific measurements/height. Saying you won’t get a bustle is like saying you won’t be hemming your gown to the proper length because it didn’t come hemmed already. A bustle is absolutely worth it. My bustle was, unfortunately, pinned up incorrectly and so someone stepped on my dress and the button popped off. I had to hold it by the wrist loop for most of the reception and it was a huge pain in the butt. 0/10 would recommend going bustleless.

I will tell you that a wrist loop is a pain....think of this..everything you do, eat, drink, dance, walk, etc you will have extra weight on one wrist and basically that arm will get hired and sometimes can actually be useless.

I had a very, very short train that didn't need to be bustled. I talked to alterations to see what it might look like to have it bustled but it really didn't make sense. The back was maybe an inch longer than the front. Had it been any longer I absolutely would have bustled.

Can we see a picture? I would say bustle so you don't have to worry about you or others stepping on/tripping over your dress... could ruin it or hurt someone
