No bridesmaid dresses 6 weeks out

Melody, on February 10, 2020 at 1:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
Hello gorgeous brides and brides to be:

Wedding in six weeks. One bridesmaid ordered her dress. She got it in November and then got it custom fit. The other two have not. We can’t order from the same place anymore because time ran out. (Azazie). Tried all the department stores, Nordstrom, show me your mumu, Lulus, David’s, and jjshouse. I even considered changing our entire wedding color because the color of the bridesmaid dresses was informing the bouquet and flowers and accessories. Jjshouse is close but no telling how accurate their lilac is to azazie lilac.
One girl has her dress. The other two do not. I’m very tempted to tell the other two that they can come as guests. They literally had one job (get the dress), then were surprised by the 10 week lead time. It’s not money because they’re both wealthier than me. It’s not short notice because they all knew and accepted the bridesmaid role in September.
I’m flying in from across the country to my own wedding and bachelorette party. My maid of honor bailed so I planned my entire bachelorette party. I skipped a wedding shower, a bridal shower, and an engagement party because it was all just adding up to so much money. I feel like I’ve been the chillest bride ever (one color, one store, whatever style you want).
I am so upset that they couldn’t be bothered to buy one $100 dress. They haven’t apologized or asked how they can help, either.
AITA for kindly telling them their role as a BM is expired? Or is this somehow reconcilable?

Maybe you can have them look for that same color dress that's used? I've seen plenty of people here say their bridesmaid got the azazie dress off of poshmark or whatever second hand sale app.

Note the lead time. Is that a risk you’d be willing to take for a 4/4 wedding?

I've never looked or shopped on Azazie before so I'm not sure what their delivery time is like, but I would check into it and see how long it could take max. Maybe call them and see what they say?

If you had to go with another brand, I would say one option could be to make the BM who already got her dress the MOH and then choose another color that goes with it for the other BM's to get. This way, the excuse for the one being in a different color could be b/c she's the MOH.

Another idea could be for you to add 2 more colors to your wedding, incorporate that into the bouquets and the rest of the wedding, and then have one of the remaining BM's get her dress in one color, and the other get a dress in the other color.

Check Poshmark! I just did a search, and there's a lot of Azazie Lilac dresses on there!

Yeah your best bet is to order them from Azazie and hope they come in time. If not, they can sit down as guests.

My date is 4/11 and I have a few who may have not ordered yet so thank you for the reminder!

The ETA two weeks ago was 4/4 and now it’s 4/20/20.
I don’t think it’s wise to spend $100 on a dress that has an ETA well past the date. I don’t have any experience in dresses coming in three weeks early.

Well it's their money to spend so let them know their options- if they don't get the dress then they can be a guest. I know you're frustrated with them but that's probably your best solution.

I though Azazie had a rush fee that your bridesmaids could use to make sure they get to them in time. I totally understand your frustration though. Otherwise Poshmark might be a good idea. Azazie also has some dresses in the ready to ship/ clearance section in your color!

I'm so sorry, i could imagine how infuriating this is for you. i would tell them they need to order from azazie to make sure they are the same color. (or try poshmark as PP suggested). if they have to pay extra for rush (not your problem) if it comes in time and is fitted in time, great! if not, then they can sit as guests and return their dresses.

One option would be to have the other girls in a different color dress, maybe a different shade of purple? Then you could have them walk in with say darker purple, then lilac BM, then darker purple BM!

Otherwise at this point you could also just tell them to pick 2 totally different dresses in a different color so you have varying shades of purple! Smiley smile

Good luck! I know how stressful it is!

I would give them a color swatch and tell them to get a dress in that exact color, wherever they want. If they don’t have it in time they won’t be in the wedding. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't remember is I saw this here or on another wedding forum, but some items made in China are being delayed to the Coronavirus. Maybe you can check department stores, its prom season. I would ask them to find something in lilac, maybe amazon. Its going to be hard, but if you think they can't do that maybe they are better off as guests. They should be the ones freaking out.

Thank you for your comment. I agree. They had months to get it done. They got the samples from Azazie ordered around Christmas and they came in the second week of January. That should have indicated how long a lead time things are now.

I am getting more and more inclined to say, you didn’t prioritize it, so you are now a guest.

Oh my goodness I would be so mad! You're taking this really well and I agree with other people on maybe doing some kind of mix of colors. Good luck!!

Does Azazie offer rush shipping? If so, I would have them order their dresses with rush shipping. If they refuse, I would have them attend as guests. I’m sorry this is happening.

It isn’t about the shipping. It takes 9 weeks to make the dress because they failed to order them ahead of time and now it’s prime spring and summer wedding season.

Have you looked at the ready to ship/as is dresses on Azazie? I had one bridesmaid not order her dress until it was too late and she managed to find an as is dress on their site in our color! They won't be able to get the ginger it looks like..but mine all wore different styles in the same color and I really liked it.
