No Boutonnieres???

SaraJ, on July 26, 2017 at 1:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

FH has had VERY few requests for the wedding so far. Butttt, I'm meeting with the florist soon and brought up the idea of boutonnieres for him and the groomsmen. He was pretty much like fuck no. He would prefer a pocket square. So my question is, has anyone gone without bouts? This isn't some sort of no-no, is it? I want to accommodate all of his requests since he has so few things he actually cares about, haha.

We didn't have boutonnieres for the folks wearing suits either--H didn't want them and it wasn't something i really had an opinion on. all the people in suits in our WP had pocket squares which H bought for them as part of our gifts to them, and matching ties, too.

I was against them at first and was going to have them do pocket squares instead. Last minute my flower shop brought the bouts and they wore them. It didn't bother me if he had one or not. I said no to corsages though. they remind me of prom and knew my mom wouldn't care about it lol

We're not doing them. I don't like the way they look on a tuxedo.

My FH doesn't want them either. It doesn't matter to me. He's doing pocket squares too. I was thinking of doing them for the dads though so they are different. FH and his guys will have ties and pocket squares and the dads will have bouts and bow ties.

My FH isn't for wearing bouts either. Him and the GM are doing handkerchiefs.

We didn't buy them. The tux we chose comes with some flower clip that FH liked a lot better which works for me because boutonnieres are so expensive.

Follow up question if OP doesn't mind. What are boutonnieres and how do they work? Wasn't a thing with me growing up but I'm marrying into an american family so I'm wondering how this works.

H didn't want a bout. We didn't have groomsman, but I imagine he would have said no for them.

My mom insisted on them for our fathers, but that was it.

@Maria Boutonnieres is the "flower/greenery" whatever it is called that the Groom/GM and usually fathers wear on the side of their tuxes.

We only had them for my H and our dads. He was pretty adamant that he didn't want his guys to wear them as he hates them. For the 3 we did get, we were also very clear with the florist we wanted something very light and not anything heavy like a rose. We didn't even get our mothers corsages (which they were both grateful for).

I'm thinking about doing a matching pocket square and not bouts. FH doesn't really want them.

This was one thing my FH was dead set against too. So we're skipping them as well.
