No bouquets?

Stefanie, on August 18, 2021 at 10:17 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11

I don't really know if I want a bouquet/want them for the bridesmaids?

I am going to be walking down the aisle with both my mom and dad, so I don't want anything else I need to hold, lol

Or has anyone used or seen alternatives to bouquets? Google has not been helpful.

For reference, I'm having a rustic wedding in the summer with my colors as navy blue, dusty blue, green, and white

Thanks in advance!

I'm not having a bouquet, I won't be having a bridal party, no one up there with me to hold my bouquet for the ceremony, and I'm not a real fan of flowers... so I chose to carry a designer satchel in my wedding colors instead. It's something I love that I can use forever and think of our day.

I won't be holding anything other than each of my two sons' hands as I walk down the aisle Smiley smile

Bouquets or an alternative are not required to get married. It's all about what you want do/how you want things to look. Many people will tell you you have to give bridesmaids something to hold "so they have something to do with their hands", but no one ever thinks the same thing about groomsmen. It's such a strange, needlessly gendered issue.

I personally like the look of flowers and simple bouquets, but I didn't have a wedding party, so I only needed to choose a bouquet for me. I don't usually care for the contrived look of all of the "bouquet alternatives" on Pinterest (lanterns, hoops, fans, puppies?!), but again, it's all about personal preference.

I’m using lanterns and silk flowers from Ling’s moment as my bridesmaids bouquets. After the ceremony, the lanterns will be used as decor around the reception venue

It's okay if your bridesmaids do not have flowers! I've been to weddings where the bridesmaids just walked down with the groomsmen and no flowers in hand. It did not look weird or awkward Smiley smile If you do change your mind you can always get some flowers from Dollar Tree to put together, put some ribbons to make it all come together and then you can use them as part of the decor for later during the reception.

Do you have a theme or style for your wedding as this will help us make suggestions? I would definitely though recommend having them carry something otherwise a lot of people when nervous fidget with their hands which could be very distracting or not look good in photos as your photographers will be capturing lots of photos of not only the bride and groom, but also the bridal party.

How about corsages? That would look really pretty and of the groomsmen are wearing boutonnieres they could be similar. You could even wear a wrist corsage.

If you're walking down the aisle with your mom and dad then I wouldn't carry anything else - you'll be out of hands!!

For your bridesmaids you could do bouquets, a single flower stem, lanterns, fans, wreaths, or nothing at all!

I am with you. I don't want a bouquet. If your bridesmaids are walking in arm with the groomsmen, they don't need a bouquet either

I think I've decided not to carry anything. If my bridesmaids do anything im doing wood flower bouquets from sola wood flowers. I just want something for them to occupy their hands while standing. I know I appreciated it in all weddings ive been in.
