No best man

Smidge, on February 20, 2017 at 12:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

My FH has asked 5 of his close friends, his half brother and my brother to be groomsman. He originally was going to ask a friend from HS to be his best man but this friend is also getting married soon and did not asked FH to be in the wedding party. Among other reasons, FH decided not to ask this guy to be his best man. Has anyone had or is going to have a wedding party without a best man? I do have a maid of honor that will be standing next to me. Unsure of how to handle things like who will stand next to FH, give a toast (not necessary I know), etc. I know it's none of my business to reach out to the groomsman but I do hope they will plan a bachelor party for FH (again I know this isn't necessary) because I know he would like one.

You don't need a best man so no worries. Toasts aren't required, so really, if any of the groomsmen offer to do a toast you can take them up on that, but it's not necessary.

It's all about how you frame it - I don't really have a best friend, myself, but the friends I do have are all really close. I basically chose my MOH based on who I thought would have the most fun with the process - not that they're required to do anything, but it's more fun when they're excited about bachelorette parties and wedding showers.
