No Band, only Engagement Ring

Shala, on April 21, 2018 at 10:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 28
Ladies! So I love my engagement ring and up untill last month I did not realize that the wedding band and engagement ring were 2 different things. Smh lol
Which leads me to the post. I am completely fine with using my engagement ring as my wedding band as well. I'm not big on jewelry and I'm frugal. It doesn't make since to rack up another bill just to say I have a band...
What so you guys think?

My sister did that! It worked for her! I believe they are going to get a wedding band later, maybe for their anniversary.

That's Awesome to here! Eventually we probably will but since it's not that important to me, who knows. By the way Congrats to her and congrats to you too.

My FH would be in agreement with you. I wanted a wedding band but he was like “more jewelry?” 😀

I might go that route as well. I love my engagement ring! It has a ton of history (it's been in FHs family for 5 generations) and I don't see the point in buying a band.

I was totally happy to use my engagement ring as a wedding ring, since it is an odd shape (band-wise). However, my grandmother gave me a simple gold band for my wedding ring (it's an heirloom that has been passed down to the first girl in each generation, stating with my great great great grandmother).

That's what I do and it works for me. My thoughts were similar to yours and it just didn't make sense to waste money on a second band, plus it doesn't sound comfortable to me.

I didn’t realize this was a thing, but I’m so glad you posted this thread! I will totally be doing this! I have a gorgeous baguette stone engagement ring and the thought of trying to find a wedding band to accommodate it was giving me anxiety! Thank you!

I'm not having a wedding band. My ring design looks better without one, imo.

I work as a manufacturing engineer, so I'm getting a silicone band for work. But I'm not getting a "nice" wedding band meant to wear with my engagement ring. I love my ring and don't think it would look right with an added band.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with not having a wedding band. But keep in mind, they are usually far less expensive than engagement rings and can be pretty affordable.

I got a band mainly because I don't plan on wearing my engagement ring every day (Too big, it snags, and draws too much attention at my job where I work with mentally ill folks). My band is beautiful though. I have friends who only have their engagement rings because they love them without the band and vice versa. You can maybe get a band on your anniversary if you want but rocking the engagement ring only is cool too!

My oldest daughter only wears an e-ring and has never had a wedding band. I had an e-ring and band when DH and I first married but then I lost the center stone of the e-ring because the marquis setting snagged on everything all the time. Instead of replacing the stone, I opted for an anniversary band, so I've been wearing one ring for over 10 years now.

We are going that route. We decided to get a band for our anniversary. Paying for the wedding ourselves was more important than getting another piece of jewelry when I just got my engagement ring 5 months before our wedding. I don't wear a lot of jewelry to begin with.
