No amplified music venue

Felicia, on January 9, 2016 at 4:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I'm getting married in 5 months and have found a beautiful and inexpensive venue at one of our state parks. The only problem is they said no amplified music and our good friend offered his djing services as a wedding gift. Has anyone run into this problem and is there a way around it? I found some iPod speakers made from wood the amplify it "acoustic" style. Has anyone used these with success at a reception? It's too late and no budget room to change the venue since I just had surgery. Any info or suggestions would be helpful Smiley smile

This is pretty standard for parks, including Central Park. Honestly, I don't think your wood box answer is an answer....no amplified music means just that.

They said an acoustic band, string quartet and harpist are all options but those all put out pretty decent sound. I just hate the idea of not getting our fun songs played.

I would speak with the venue coordinators and confirm what they really mean by amplified music. Some will not allow a DJ at. Others are okay so long as the music is not too loud. What you don't want is to have your reception shut down because you breached a contract. ETA: and a lawsuit for breach of contract.

We had that issue because we rented a large beach house and there were noise constraints. We rented a speaker and had an iPod with a wedding DJ app. It worked for us because we had a fairly small wedding.

Did you sign a contract? If having the DJ is that important to you I would take a look at it and see what other options you have.
