NJ Hall Rentals Under $500?

Annie & Javi, on December 27, 2015 at 6:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

Any recommendations of hall rentals in New Jersey that can accommodate about 50 people for less than $500 for four hours?

I'm running into a lot of roadblocks.

There is the Woods Road Firehouse in Hillsborough, NJ. It's $525 for that amount of time plus two hours before of set up and an hour after for clean up. It includes tables and chairs. I know that's slightly more than you are looking to spend. There could be other firehouse banquet halls that are a tad cheaper though. I'm assuming you have a food budget on top of the $500.

We do. $500 is the absolute max; NJ hall rentals are so expensive it's insane!

There is a beautiful hall rental right up in Mount Pocono that's less than $200 but it's too far. : (

    Less than greater then matters

    > is greater then 500

    rental <500 is less than

But it's New Jersey- it's expensive. What kind of feel are looking for? Outside venues are significantly less expensive- but risky obviously.

Grounds for Sculpture an option for you? Musuems/Library's/parks- all options as well.

They really are. $525 was one of the cheaper options we could find in the Princeton area at least. We are doing our RD there.

Also check out the West Windsor Arts Center. I know that had some cheaper rental spaces, but not sure if they can accommodate what you are looking for.

I cannot think of one place we work that is that little except possibly ambulence corps, community centers and the like.

You may find that for a small group (which I love) it's less expensive to do an all inclusive at a restaurant....I have a hunch that catering is going to be more than you think too.

try the spiritual center at Ramapo College in Mahwah. It's very cute.

Luckily I work with several caterers so I have that portion of the budget under control.

I will definitely give the spiritual center a shot though. Thank you!

We're really not being picky about overall feel, we just need something indoors.

I came across some museums and libraries however they were either out of budget, booked or couldn't accommodate the number of guests.

Have you checked VFW, Eagles, Moose, Elk, Lion halls?

    Yes.

I was hoping someone familiar with the area would be able to recommend a specific location that they know of which I may be unaware of.

Drop your guest list- you'll have better luck finding a nicer venue indoor venue and odds are- if you are surprised at the 500$ price tag you are going to be really truly in shock with what it pays to feed people.

We are looking at 1500- 2000$ in food plus alcohol for under 20 people.

((head thunk)) I'm well aware of how much things cost in NJ; I was asking if whether or not anyone knew of a specific location, one that may not be advertised or often used, etc.

Parks often under that price tag.

We were just looking at the Lambert Museum- it's 250 for an indoor permit (after hours though).

Or check for a large private party at a restaurant.

Preferably Ocean County being the furthest south, the rest is game.

At this point I don't believe that Lamber allows indoor parties; we finally got them to think about doing ceremonies inside...

You might try Kip Castle, in Verona.

They have a thing about doing something inside- I wasn't over whelmed with it- but I know it's 250 for a permit.

You could just do a pop wed in your favorite space if you can keep your ceremony guests below 20 and just do guerrilla bridal ceremonies and dash in- do it and dash out.

You are already married, so is this not for a wedding? That would impact my recommendations.

Correct. I'm looking for a hall that can be used for both a bridal shower and a baby shower. Two separate events, same families, budgets are restricted due to the parties being fairly close in the timeline.

Here is one other suggestion.. I don't use this because it's too far of a commute for the rest of my family however, I have an aunt who lives in a condo complex up in riverdale NJ.

their complex has a club house that residents can rent for like $200.00. it's a beautiful club house. many of these nice complexes that have pools and club houses likely will have something like this. if anyone involved in your planning lives at one of these, this could also be an option for you. again BYO everything but you'd have to have a resident rent it for you in their name but that's the only lower priced option available if you know someone in one of these complexes. only reason we don't use it is a majority of my family are coming form Bronx and Washingtonville. Bergenfield is a closer option for all those traveling.

Hi Audrey, I’m looking for a space for cheap as well. Can you tell me the name of the condo where your aunt lives?
