Night time wedding exit

Shayla, on April 18, 2018 at 12:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 15
Hiiii,
I was wondering if anyone has ideas for a wedding send off? It’ll be dark when we have our exit and I’m not sure what to do that will show up in pictures? We have about 140 people coming so would be too many to use sparklers. Thanks in advance Smiley smile

Yoy have to consider not all 140 guests will stay until the send off depending on what time it is. Sparklers might be just fine.

If you have a good photographer they should be able to capture whatever it is you want to use. I saw a couple ideas that i’ll be looking into that use glow sticks, and another that use streamer poppers but they stay connected to the actual popper for easy cleanup Smiley smile

I'm still thinking sparklers would be great. Not everyone will stay for the send off.

The last wedding we went to had about 100 people left at send off.. they gave every few people on each side a sparkler!

What are these poppers??? My venue won't allow anything that goes on the ground and are enforcing the city's "no sparklers" rule.

We had 200 guests at our wedding and did sparklers with no problem!

I love the sparkler idea, but make sure your venue is okay with that. I know my venue doesn't allow sparklers (fire hazard) which is a bummer, but there are plenty of other cute ways to do the send off. Someone else mentioned this, and I agree, glow sticks could be a really cute alternative.

LED balloons actually look pretty. If we weren’t having sparklers, I was probably going to have LED balloons in white.

Is this ok with the venue? I think they're beautiful but also a little bit like littering... (if you care about that) and potentially a fire hazard. Most times the candles go out on the way down but I've seen some close calls with these... Not saying you shouldn't do it, just food for thought and also to point out to check with your venue if you haven't already.

OP - I know sparklers are kind of overdone, but you know - they're fun, photograph well, and easy... Bubbles if backlit can be really pretty too...

Well, 9 times out of 10 it's fine. I wouldn't worry too much unless it's really dry out - then definitely have a backup plan. I don't know where you are, but if there is a burn ban in effect I would definitely choose another path.

Just try to use materials that easily break down - as I said, I think they're lovely (and I've done plenty of them before I started feeling differently about them) but over time I've come to think of them like stray balloons - you can't control where they end up, and they fall to the ground and stay there until they disintegrate. Just not really the cleanest of options.
