I was just going to suggest the same thing. I read white roses petals really pop with the flash of a camera at night as well. I'm not sure how cost effective they are but also fiber optic wands.

Are you also opposed to staging your sendoff earlier in the day? We’ll be staging ours because our photog is leaving before our wedding ends.

Not all bubbles stain. You just need to do your research and be sure you get high quality ones.

I'm a little late to this forum, but I was running into the same issue. I just found these LED Balloons though and I think they are awesome. I have been searching through to see what other's experiences with them are like. These are the best priced ones I found on amazon. http://a.co/fSvKm7B. The pictures there have helium, but I'm thinking of just filling with air so everyone holds or tosses them. Let me know what you all think because I might use the balloons too! Other options on Amazon have just the light, and you have to put the LED light in the balloon.

Okay so we spoke with the photographer about all of your guys answers, except the balloons (great idea though! But my fiance is afraid of balloons haha) the photographer said to either do sparklers and we can do the pictures with the people in the background, not anywhere near me, or stage it earlier in the day like you guys said! Thank you all so much for your ideas!

What about the floating lanterns? Release them as you're going out??

We are older couple (50/60's) so we will be releasing Chinese Lanterns with our adult kids. Like a Unity Candle but different.
