Nicer Bridesmaid Gift

Dana, on January 25, 2021 at 3:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
I really need ideas. I kinda screwed myself here but as a gift to my bridesmaids I'm gonna buy 1 of their services for hair or makeup (it's a gift cause I'm not demanding they have it done or even asking any style). And my Maid of honor and a bridesmaid are both very happy with that... However my last bridesmaid is my cousin and my aunt has already said she's buying her hair n makeup. So I've decided I want to get her something nice as her bridesmaid gift as she'd rather have something physical anyway... I just have no idea what.

If you give her a physical gift, I'd suggest giving it to her separately from the others to avoid hurt feelings. They may take it the wrong way and not realize why you went that route with her gift!

A nice matching pj set is always a great option. I got my ladies theirs at Target, and they look and feel very fancy! Also think about any hobbies/interests she has. If she likes wine, or the occasional drink, a personalized wine glass, or a travel cup is a great option! If she wears jewelry, this is also an option!

I got my ladies some specialty olive oil & balsamic vinegar. They all love to cook.

There's a ton of ideas on pinterest if you do a pj set! Target's was only $15 when I bought it, but it was during the holidays so they were on sale. It comes with a long sleeve button up shirt, shorts, and a mask!

I got each of my girls a piece of Kendra Scott jewelry as their gift. They were a hit and they reportedly wear them often. But this was in addition to paying for their hair and makeup, even though I was not requiring hair and makeup (they were free to choose any style). I didn't consider paying for hair and makeup to be a "gift" because it was wedding-related. I would recommend doing a small physical gift for all of your girls, even something as simple as a heartfelt hand-written card. For the bridesmaid who you know wants a physical gift, I would recommend a nice piece of jewelry, but you would want to give this to her at another time not in front of the other bridesmaids.

Shop like it's her birthday. What would you get that fits her personal interests?

Oh that there's plenty but I wanna get her something specific to the event... Like I can buy her a casual gift anytime. She's very sentimental lol

Most prefer to not have something specific to the wedding as they tend to tossed out. But if you know she won't then go for it.

Yeah that why I wanna do something nice. Not the small stuff you'd buy in bulk. I want something personal to her that isn't just a thing.

Could you do a spa day or nail appointment and lunch with her prior to your wedding? Then, it would be a nice gift that's related to the wedding, but is a sentimental memory as well. I always prefer activities over items, so that's why I'd go that route. However, if she's into tangible items...you could do a spa basket with nice lotions, soaps, and face masks in her favorite scents with a plush bathrobe.

I personally don't think hair and makeup for your wedding is really a gift for your bridesmaid. A gift would be something they can have and use after your wedding.

I agree with Veronica on this one. Paying for hair and makeup, even if it's optional, shouldn't count as a gift because it's basically just a way for them to look nicer at your wedding. The same goes for matching getting ready attire, and especially robes that say "bridesmaid." A gift is something tangible that they can use after the wedding.

I make jewelry and bath products that my girls love and have requested for birthdays/Christmas/anything, so I’m doing homemade gifts for them.
