Hi all,
I just got engaged 8/18/20 and I don’t even know where to begin with planning the wedding. Where do you start?

Congratulations on your engagement!! The first thing I suggest is actually to wait to start planning. Take a few weeks or a month to enjoy the engagement before wedding planning starts. And then, once you're ready to start planning, talk with your fiance and figure out budget, estimated guest list, and wedding date. Once you have those, you can start looking at venues, and then vendors (photographer, DJ, etc).

One thing that has helped me throughout wedding planning is using the checklist on The Knot. Wedding Wire also has a checklist too, I suggest using one to help keep you organized.

    Happy wedding planning!!

I started right away on an approximate guest count and what venue. I researched for about 3-4 months before booking the venue.

Get you ideas together for how you want it to look, how large, what venues can work with your guest count. Determine your budget based on the size of your wedding, and go from there.

    Budget, guest list and venue.

    Have fun!

This app will definitely help guide you. I felt like that till I got this app. Engagement party would be first on the list. That is what we did. But totally up to you.

Congratulations!!! It’s a good idea to start with a budget so you can have an idea of what venues, guest count, caterer, florists, dj, decor, stationary, dress etc you can afford. If you can get a venue that’s all inclusive that’s a plus because you have a lot less to worry about vendor wise.

Decide how much you're willing to spend. Make a ballpark guestlist. Look for venues first since you can't secure other vendors until that is done. Meanwhile browse Pinterest or Instagram to get an idea of your style and what you like.

My one advice, before you start wedding planning, is to take your engagement shoot! A lot of people choose to wait to take their engagement shoot, but my fiancee and I took our engagement shoot a month after we got engaged. and it has done wonders in getting me and my fiancee in the right head space when it comes to wedding planning.

This is because, planning your engagement shoot is a much more simple behemoth to conquer, and it helps you take things one step at a time. It forces you start searching for potential photographers that you want to shoot your big day, and it even forces you to search for locations to shoot at, that who knows, might just be your future venue! Also, I'm not going to lie, I had a lot of fun coordinating outfits we were going to wear for the shoot and more.

It will also come in handy when you're making your wedding website and Save The Dates!
