Newly Engaged- WW Forum Questions

Mrs. eD2, on November 2, 2014 at 10:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hello all of my fellow Future Mrs.!

After years of creating dream wedding pinterest boards and surfing through the WW forums dreaming of the day I'd get to say "YES!" I am finally here as a newly engaged bride to be! After over 6 1/2 years with my FH, I am over the moon in happiness to finally be engaged!

So now that I'm new to WW Forums, I have no idea how discussions are organized. Are there general forums and then specific forums? Right now I'm looking to communicate with Future Mrs. about general elation over being engaged, any "limbo" period before you actually delved into planning, engagement ring appraisals insurance, and actually information on the things brides wished they would have known when they first started planning.

We haven't touched any formal plans, but my dream is to marry my FH in Puerto Rico. No talks about budgets, guest lists, timeline, nothing. We're just riding the "high". Any input on where to find these forums is super helpful!!!

Welcome and Congrats!! We got engaged Christmas and didn't start planning till about March/April. We got both venues, catering and cake out of the way. We took a break from planning for a few months after that due to some health concerns. But full force now. All brides/couples go at their own pace. There is no right or wrong amount of time to spend planning. Just enjoy your high till your ready. I startedby narrowing down what months we would like to get married and went from there. Good luck and happy planning.

Congrats!! I got engaged less than a month ago and the wedding already half planned. That's partially bc I've been planning this for years and knew specific vendors we wanted and partially due to the fact that my mom is slightly crazy when it comes to planning. I haven't found a way to slow her down. So I say do what you want!!!

Welcome to WW and congratulations! I'm Andrea Smiley smile We got engaged Christmas Eve of last year and had only loose ideas of what we wanted/what we could afford until we booked our venue in April for our March 2015 wedding. I wad on here the whole time despite that!

The forums are organized by topics, but if you just hang out in the all regions and all topics areas you'll hear a lot of useful insight and experience, regardless of where you're at in the planning process. Also don't hesitate to use the search function for the forums because there are a ton of things that can be answered/researched that way. Good luck!!

    Welcome and congrats!

When you post, you select a region and category selections but the post falls into all regions and all topics and everyone on here will be able to see it. The regions and categories are good for researching, IMO, but otherwise not very useful for immediate reaponses/info.

It's awesome to be able to see what people in different regions are doing - it definitely gives a range of ideas too.

Tip: Make sure to include details when asking an opinion or question because, for example, if you ask for something like photographer recommendations - no one knows where you are referencing. I see it happen a lot and ladies here can be very helpful but we have to know enough to make our help useful. :-)

Thank you all soooo much! We got engaged in Disney on my birthday mid-October, so we've only been engaged for about 3 weeks. He is moving this week and wants to wait a few months until he gets settled before we start planning. I have this itch and have to find ways to keep myself occupied until we're both ready to start moving forward together =) How did you and your FH start the conversation about your visions for your dream wedding?

Is there anything I should be researching right now so I know what sorts of questions to start asking when we are ready to start planning?

I'm so excited to be here with you all!

Hi there! Welcome and congratulations. As others have said, the "sections" don't really seem to be used by people much - the forum defaults to displaying posts from all sections in all regions.

Congrats! Definitely get ring insurance right away. It was the absolute first thing my FH and I did after getting my ring resized. This is just in case anything happens to your ring before you even start planning. You have a lot of time to continue riding that high before you delve into planning, but when you do start planning start with a budget and guest list. This is going to help you know what you'll need to look for in a venue, which is the next thing you should start looking for. After the venue is booked, everything is downhill from there. Use the WW checklists to help you keep on track and the budget tool!
