Girl, take our time and get married in 2022, at this point its already less than 2 years away. Honestly the time flies while you're panning and it helps to extend it out if you're paying for everything and want to make sure you don't go broke over a one day party. My engagement was 15 months and it was crazy fast so adding another few months will only help you get through the planning phase better.

Don’t stress! I got engaged in December 2017 but didn’t even start planning at all until May 2018, and still felt like I had MORE than enough time to plan for our June 2019 wedding... it’s nice to have time to get stuff done but... honestly I found the waiting more stressful 😂 by December of 2018 I was like “can we just be done with this already” haha

I think the best thing about having that much time is that you can do a ton of research, find the best prices on everything, and have plenty of time to pay for everything you want. FH wanted to get married right away after getting engaged in April 2018. But he's been married before, and I haven't. He knew I wanted a wedding, with all of our families and friends in attendance. But that kind of thing costs a lot of money. So, we sat down to the task of pricing it all out, so we would know how much we needed to save for our dream wedding.

We're not rich, not even close. We both make decent money, but when you live in a high cost-of-living area like we do (SF Bay Area, CA), it can be difficult to carve out any savings. So, we figured out a small amount we could save every month, then divided the cost of the wedding by that amount, so we'd know how long it would take to save that. It turns out it's going to be two years of saving and planning by the time we get married. Which can feel like a very long time!! But guess what? I'm getting the wedding of my dreams, in addition to marrying my best friend and true love. So, don't ever think of your engagement as "too long." Try instead to think of it as "the right amount of time to plan the wedding of your dreams." Sounds a lot better that way, right? Good luck, and happy planning!!

First of all, congratulations!!!! It’s such an exciting time but don’t stress. I would wait and go with 2022 and have plenty of time to plan exactly what you want. Good luck

Congrats! A little more time isn’t a bad idea. We were engaged for 19 months but we didn’t do much the first few months.

We were originally going to go with August 2020, but after engaged we wanted to go with April 2020 instead. That means that we've been rushing a bit to make sure we get the major things (dress, venue, photographer, flowers), so I recommend taking a bit more time. Especially if you live in an urban area where stuff books out years in advance!

Congratulations! That's not too long at all! Gives you plenty of time to look, save, and take your time with things. You'll also be more likely to be able to snag whatever vendors/venues you like.
