Newly Engaged. Now what?

Elijah, on April 20, 2021 at 6:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
My partner proposed a few days ago, and we’re both very excited. However, neither of us know where to start. We have a Pinterest board, a color scheme, and an aesthetic. But what do we do now?

Congratulations! The next step would be to figure out a budget, tentative guest list, preferred season/ time if year, and start researching venues. Once you secure a venue, you can start booking other vendors. WeddingWire and The Knot have some great checklists and other tools to help you throughout the process!

Congratulations to you and your fiancé on this wonderful time. I absolutely loved wedding planning. If you already have an aesthetic, think of what time of year you’d like to get married (generally, like Fall 2022), and set your budget. I recommend doing some research on what things typically cost in your area as you set your budget so you don’t totally blow it out of the water, haha! Then begin venue searching! I found WW to be the most helpful when trying to look for a venue. Once you decide on a venue and secure a date, book the vendors that are a “one man band”, like your photographer and DJ. These are folks that, once booked, can’t duplicate themselves to do multiple weddings. Above all, remember to enjoy this amazing time! It’s so special!

Hi! I agree with the others you definitely want to come up with a budget, date/date range and guest list/number of people being invited and then go from there. After that you want to start looking at venues because a lot of your choices for the wedding will go from there with vendors. I think wedding wire and the knot have useful wedding planning timelines you can use.

Having this app is a great start! I'm newly engaged too and my fiance is a typical man so he hasn't done anything in the area of planning or pinning things. Luckily out families are both there to help us and answer questions I have. The best thing to do is take a look on the Wedding Wire app or you can also download the Knot app,I have both because they're both helpful in planning and all the things you wouldn't remember to think about. The only thing we have done so far together is do a rough draft of our guest list and started venue tours. Depends on how long your engagement is too,so stick to a plan and again I would just highly recommend utilizing the app and asking friends/family questions.
