New York Venue - Allowing Food

Jackie, on November 8, 2019 at 5:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I am having a small wedding Max 120 people. I am looking for a venue that allows outside food that is not from a specific caterer (The food is not an issue as we have already had similar experiences with more people).

The venue only needs to provide seating arrangements and basic table decorations like table cloths.

Ideally I am looking for a Venue that is $****. I have seen some loft and brunch wedding type of locations but I am not familiar with the pricing. Any suggestions? Your help is appreciated.

Most wedding venues require a professional cater because of the dangers that can be involved with nonprofessional makekng the food. I would check out fire halls or something like that.

We wanted a brunch wedding with catered food for 100 people and looked at quite a few places. We used to live in Brooklyn so we checked a few places out. Two places stuck our but overall are still $$$$.

Here are quotes for places we looked at. Mostly just for the space, no food, no bartender or staff:
Diviera drive: no daytime music allowedPizza beach $15kl'amico event space $10k
Tacombi weekdays didn't get pricesBattery Harris (no longer exists but maybe check out the space that is there now) $8k for 3 hours with open bar and venue space
In the end we ended up having our wedding at a restaurant where it was basically all inclusive in Rochester, NY where his family is from.

With 120 people and that budget I am not sure you'll find it in NYC. If possible to Branch out to Long island or other spots in Brooklyn or NJ it might be doable. you may want to look into park pavilions Or museums or other bars that can accommodate.

An acquaintance got married at a housing works bookstore it it looked lovely.

    Good luck!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Jackie!!

As the pp mentioned, it’s always a little bit more difficult looking for a venue that will allow you to bring your own catering. Have you booked your caterer already? A good idea would be to contact them and ask for a list of venues that they have previously worked with.

You could also look into some community centers in the area.
