New to this life!

I'm Just getting started in this wedding planning life. And I have never had a dream wedding or anything. So I guess my question is, where do I start? I'm looking at venues and I have my bridesmaids. But I really don't know what they should be doing, or what I should be working on next. I'm so very lost! Please Send Help.

The New York Times recently (I think 12/22/19) had a great 2-page spread on wedding planning. See if you can find a copy. My son proposed on 12/21 and the article was in the paper the next day!

I would start looking at venues- visualizing is key, seasons, size of wedding, so you can choose the venue - then it’s of food is at that venue or you need a caterer —- then photography, dj, florist, all fall around the same times so no super big stress rush on that.. more or less - after the venue things basically roll into place. Plus that’s what we are here for ! Help and support along n the way!!! We keep eachother sane haha

You should start with a budget and guest list. Once you have those figured out, you can find a venue that fits both of those things and has availability in the season or month that you want. After you book a venue, you can start working on other major vendors.

Get all of the big things out of the way early so that you can focus on the smaller details stress free! The venue is a great place to start, then there’s the photographer/videographer, the dress, the music, hair/makeup...

First you want to figure out budget and guest list, and then you want to look at venues that fit those parameters. There is a checklist on here and on The Knot that helps you get a timeline of when to do what.
