New things with the future spouse

Micaiah, on June 10, 2019 at 9:41 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
As we get closer to the big day, I've been thinking a lot more about what kind of family were going to be. I recently took on a Compassion child (a child in poverty that I send money to each month and get to send letters too and all sorts of stuff like that), and he lives in Indonesia. FH and I were talking about how cool it would be to go visit him and get to do all sorts of stuff with him. We both realized that we don't speak his language (we are both big on learning languages, though. He knows 5, I know 3). So we are starting to learn Indonesian together now.
What kinds of new things are you doing with your future spouse? New traditions? New skills? Whatever it is, I'd love to hear about it!

We have an anniversary tradition where we try a new cuisine each year. So far we've had French, Indian, Japanese, and Vietnamese. We're preparing ourselves for a our honeymoon world tour to Montreal in December and Iceland in March 2020.

I don’t know! But this is a really neat idea. Last year (2nd year of marriage) we really were too settled/routined. I get fussy when I feel like life just passing me by and I have explored new things.

This is such a neat idea. I'm usually dragging my fh on random trips to go see stuff I want to see. He has fun too though, he loves to drive. We should totally try to do something new each year, like visit a new state every year. We've done New York, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina will be this year.

We want to learn Spanish together, but we haven't started this yet. We started playing tennis together and that has been really fun!

That is awesome! My FH and I both sponsor a child through compassion, he has been doing it almost 10 years and I started about two years ago! I've always thought have cool it would be to go on the trips they have to meet the children!

We love having our own traditions for holidays and stuff and we have a lot of little cute ones. For Valentines day we drag the couch out onto the living room floor and spend the night in eating a ton of food and watching movies. Christmas we do our own thing Christmas Eve morning we exchange gifts alone the two of us, etc.

We do golf together a lot though, as far as a skill. He already golfs really well and is a scratch golfer but I am not so great. We go out together and play a few holes and he coaches me but its been fun to do that activity together.
