Beginner December 2019

New priest

The church that is marrying us assigned us a new priest. I attended mass on Saturday to get a feel and he has a strong accent. It wasn't terrible but some things I couldn't understand and I felt kind of disappointed. I don't mind attending mass and experiencing this but on my wedding day I would like the words being said to resonate a little deeper, which is harder to do if you have to pick apart what they are saying. All our paperwork and wedding prep is being done by the Deacon of this church, which I hoped would be marrying us. I would like to contact him and mention my concerns, but don't want it to come off the wrong way. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I would just contact him and tell him that you feel more comfortable with him officiating since he's been on this journey with you. Flatter him a bit and make it more about you liking him instead of the issues with the other priest.

Don't feel weird about it! I would contact him and just tell him that you'd feel more comfortable with him performing your wedding as you know him better and feel more comfortable around him. If he's available I'm sure it won't be an issue.
