New Jersey specific question

Liberty State Park, Hoboken/Jersey City Riverwalk, or pier at Exchange Place- all have great views of NYC skyline and also opportunities for nature pics. Hope this helps!

What about just downtown Morristown? I'm sure there are some cool building shots your photographer could get

Ooo!! Just looked up Liberty State Park! Very interesting place! It looks like it has everything (NYC skyline, trains, and nature!)

I thought of the Delaware Water Gap too, FH and I have gone hiking there because we grew up around there but I didn't know of any locations that were hiking trails... and we didn't want to have to hike and get sweaty for photos.

I proposed the Morristown Green/ downtown Morristown to FH but because he works there, it doesn't have the same appeal and he said "anywhere but morristown". Our original location was a park right outside of Morristown.

What about Jockey Hollow? It's a national park so technically they have a photo fee but no one is there patrolling, you would just pay the entrance donation an be able to walk around

You can go to Lambert Castle in Paterson/Clifton, but you have to do it outside.

I second Liberty State Park! I was there today and absolutely love the park.

Waterloo Village in Stanhope

I would def do liberty state park! Love going there. And it's not crazy packed which is awesome. My fiancé lives in Morristown so I'm with you on not taking pics there. It really only has that one location on the green. No other variety. We're taking our pics end of August at Rutgers gardens and on cook campus of RU That's where we met . At our freshman dorm. There's a $100 fee to take pics an hour at the gardens but I pulled the trigger. Should be free for alumni! Lol

I just looked up lambert's castle! That's gorgeous too! Never knew it existed! Waterloo village is right near my home town lol I actually went on a field trip there when I was in elementary school- before it closed! (Although, I think it's open again)

What about some where on sandy hook or along the shore on highway 36 just outside sandy hook. or the twin lighthouses in the highlands or Atlantic highlands. its center jersey but its very pretty. all within 15 miles of each other. there is also a great place that is in the highlands i want to say its called something like hudson point or look out point, it overlooks sandy hook. its behind the quikcheck i cant remember the name, i havent been there in almost ten years.

A lot of people say that about Lambert; we do a LOT of elopements there, and there are always bridal parties taking photos there. The bonus there is that it's in a bigger reservation that has an observatory and there is also a reservoir, picnic areas and walking trails. If you decide to do it there, weekdays or early in the day is better so you avoid bridal parties (and maybe me!)

I'd say if you're looking for the NYC in the background shots, Liberty is the way to go too.

Definitely ask your photographer.

Do you need to get a permit for Lambert castle? I have that as one of my options as I have my ceremony in Pal Park and Venue in West Orange.

@Patricia--- I looked it up last night. From my research, you don't need a permit to take photos outside on the grounds but if you want to take photos INSIDE then yes, there is a fee. I was getting different information about fees---but they all hung around the $100 range. But from googling images, it looks like the outside is plenty!

I really like Horseshoe Lake Park in Roxbury. There is a lake, little island with a gazebo, a variety of trees, benches, and it is near the MUA West Greenway (a trail). There are swans in the lake so it could be cool to get them in the background of your pics! Oh, and an iron fence and old train tracks run along the backside of the park. Plus there is a playground if you want swing pics. No fee that I know of to take pics there. I live close to the park and run on the trails there often, so I notice allll the little details of the space lol! My photographer took another couple's engagement pictures there and we considered it but ultimately went with a park in Somerville. I don't remember the name of it but it is across the street from the Somerville YMCA.

ETA: It's not actually an island, but a little peninsula of land, so you can walk to it!

Oh I was JUST about to reply to this again and suggest Waterloo village and saw Butterfly already did. I think that's where we're doing ours because our photographer is actually in East Stroudsburg, PA and we wanted something woodsy.

@Jon's Mrs.. The place you're talking about is Mount Mitchill Overlook. It's around the corner from my house and it's actually where FH proposed to me we took our photos at Sandy Hook all the way at the end. If it's not too far of a drive for you, there really are a lot of beautiful places around this area (Middletown/Atlantic Highlands/Highlands)
