New invites/reminders

Grecia, on August 16, 2020 at 1:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Hello all, our wedding was postponed 3ish weeks before our original date & we had to push it out a year. By the time the postponing happened we already had sent out invitations and had gotten back all the rsvps. I sent out a “postponement” announced to everything online. Now my question is if it’s necessary to send a new invitations or just RSVP reminders? Would you do it online or via mail again?

Anything helps!! Thank you!

In my opinion electronic correspondence doesn’t seem “official”. I understand the pandemic happened and last minute cancellations/postponements had to be communicated quickly. If it were me I would send everything about via mail. Your wedding date changed; maybe you have rooms blocks with codes that were updated that needs to be communicated? New rsvps gives your guests a chance to plan accordingly since a year would have gone by, there situations may have changed too. We postponed with new date cards in the mail & or invitations will be mailed with prepaid postage for the RSVP.

I would send new invitations. People who previously couldn't make your original date, may now be able to attend your new date, and vice versa.

Thank you, I’ve had people including wedding planner telling me online is fine but I feel that it’s a year and like you said information about room blocks and stuff changed too! Thank you again!

I’d send all new invites and not rely on the old invitations with the incorrect info.

I was thinking of doing that too before since we spent a lot of money on our original invitations and had some left overs. I just wan any sure what the “etiquette” was.. my wedding planner said to me since my wedding was postponed I can do whatever I like now lol...

I would send out new invites. People’s circumstances may have changed, and they may not remember the date a year out.

I just ordered mine of Zazzle and was going to mail them out this weekend. I am including a stamped RSVP card to mail back to me like the old days lol. I thought if I make it easier people will quit dodging and be decisive and hopefully and let me know is coming as it is only 70 days away and I need to plan for food and vendors.
