New invitations

Ashlie, on September 6, 2020 at 4:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
We had to postpone the big wedding until March 2021 and also had a minimony on our original date with about 35 people, and it was perfect! We sent out allllll the invitations as originally planned, of course, because our venue cancelled on us 4 weeks before our wedding date. I had our dream invitations! My question now is, what do I do for new invitations? Our original ones were pretty specific to us and the wedding style, meaning the design was old Florida style. How do I now word it? Do I use the same design with new wording?? What do I do?!??

Why can't you have the old design you loved made with a new date?

Just alter the wording to reflect that it's a renewal of vows/celebration of your recent wedding with reception to follow.

I'm in a similar scenario, we sent out our invites, and then postponed a few weeks later. We love the invites that we had chosen, so we plan on reordering our same invites closer to our new date in 2022, and will just change the date to the new date.

If you like the style of invites you previously ordered, there's nothing wrong with ordering the same ones with the new date (and maybe state "wedding celebration" or "vow renewal" so guests know you married on your original date)!

I would keep the same style too if you like it

I would keep the same style and put the new date. Most invitation websites have examples of wording that you can use

I would keep the same design, but switch up the colors a little bit. For example, our invitation is mostly medium/light blue, the inserts are green and grey, and the RSVP is dark blue. The envelope liner and RSVP envelope are coral. If we had sent them out before changing plans, I might use grey for the second round of invitations, medium/light blue for the inserts, and coral for the RSVPs or something like that. If they were all the same color but you had a slightly different pattern on each piece, you could rotate that in a similar way.
For the wording, ours were going to say, "[my parents' names] and [his parents' names] request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their children Alexandra and Joseph..."
Now it will probably say, "...at a reception celebrating the marriage of..." or something like that.
