New Invitations

Austyn, on May 22, 2020 at 12:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi ladies!

We postponed our August 2020 wedding to August 2021. I let myself have a few weeks to avoid all things wedding, but now I'm ready to start getting things prepped for next year. I just ordered our postponement announcements, but was wondering if it was too soon to order new invitations? I obviously won't be sending them out for another year, but was thinking it might be nice to just have them and not have to worry about it later on? Thoughts?

I ordered my invitations/STDs/RSVPs the day I secured my venue, which was about 17 months out. And I’m happy that I did as the design I wanted is no longer available.

You can send out save the dates now if you are certain about the date but don't order invites until at least January at the earliest.

This seems like a personal choice - some people's taste changes over that amount of time, and others find comfort in knowing the invites are already bought and waiting to be mailed. Honestly, if you want to order them, there aren't any bad consequences as long as nothing changes.

We also postponed from August 2020 to summer 2021. We don't have invitations yet, but we do have envelopes, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to address them this year, at least for people who are unlikely to move soon. After spending the last 8 or so months planning our original wedding, I just want to finish everything now instead of spreading it out over the extra year.

I don't think there's much risk in ordering the invitations now, especially if your printer/stationer is willing to reprint them in the (hopefully unlikely) event that you have to reschedule again, which a lot of companies have policies around now.
