New Ideas For Old Tradition...The Rice Toss

I am getting married at a winery and they do not allow rice to be tossed into the air. So I am wondering what, if anything, should I use. I have asked a few of my married friends and they all did't do anything . Is this a new trend...leaving of this old tradition? How many of you are skipping this...

I am getting married at a winery and they do not allow rice to be tossed into the air. So I am wondering what, if anything, should I use. I have asked a few of my married friends and they all did't do anything . Is this a new trend...leaving of this old tradition? How many of you are skipping this part all together? I have thought about bubbles, lavender, and eco-friendly confetti. What are you guys using and what are you using to hold it in?

Thanks!

I was iffy on doing this tradition or not but then I went to wedding were noone did anything and a couple of the guests were upset about it. So we decided to do the sparklers- I think it would look really nice and if the guests want to do it, I say why not?? it really helps jump from the ceremony feel to the reception feel.

As we leave the reception for the night we are having all the guests hold sparklers... i saw it at another wedding, it was very cool and they ship anywhere in the country.... i know its probably too late for your wedding, but for anyone else that might read this...

For our wedding, we are using birdseed as well. Very inexpensive. (look at the bulk seed prices.) put a small amount in tulle circles. (buying tulle and cutting out the circles is cheaper than buying them already cut out.) and tie a ribbon that has your colors around it. This is cheap, and the birds clean it up after. Don't worry, they won't get near until after all of the commotion. Also, do not make the same amount as guests you have, not everyone takes them, and you don't want to be left with tons of birdseed.

DO NOT USE BUBBLES!! Ladies, eveyone says there is no negative effects to using bubbles...YES there are. It leaves soap rings on your dress!!! It will ruin your dress!

I agree Julie, using bubbles could end badly! I've seen people use it and while it looks pretty you definitely run the risk of staining. But still, I like the tradition and we are using ecofetti. It's good for the environment, our venue allows it and it has a really nice affect when its thrown. Sparklers also seems like a nice idea, but my ceremony will be held in the day time so I don't think it will really work.
