New England Honeymoon

Alisha, on January 15, 2018 at 7:19 PM Posted in Honeymoon 3 6
We are getting married in Rangeley, Maine. We are from Minot, ME. We are looking to have a New England honeymoon to keep it low key, fun and relaxing. We’ve been looking at going to Vermont for a couple of nights, and going down to Foxwoods for a couple nights. We will be honeymooning the first week of October so it may be cool. We are looking for some fun ideas for things to do or
places to go.

H and I did a mini moon to CT. We stayed at the Courtyard Hotel. It was 15 mins away from Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun. Our wedding was last October. It was kinda chilly. A nice sweatshirt would work unless your like me and hate the cold.

We love Foxwoods! We stayed for our 1 year anniversary last June and will be going back in August to see Trevor Noah/stay the night. It’s definitely chilly in October, but a sweatshirt should be fine. If you stay at Foxwoods, I highly suggest David Burke Prime for dinner. Their food was amazing and because it was our anniversary, they brought us dessert at the end of our meal!

Thank you 😁 I will definitely remember that! I am not a fan of the cold so I’ll have to dress warm!

My go to place is The Vermont Inn in Mendon, VT. Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing bed and breakfast. It's about 60-90 minutes to Shelburne Museum, Vermont Teddy Bear factory (the tour is really fun!) and a two-story Barnes & Noble in Burlington. For that time of year I strongly suggest layers including a warm coat. When FH and I were there last year in October, we were there for their first frost.

Depending on where in VT you leave from, the route and including bathroom breaks expect it to take about 6+ hours to get from Vermont to Foxwoods.

Foxwoods: Fox Tower Hotel, Pequot Tower Hotel or Great Cedar Hotel to stay in. They all have the most comfortable beds! The spa in the Pequot Tower is AMAZING! Two words: COUPLE'S MASSAGE Smiley winking Within 5 minutes of Foxwoods is the Pequot Museum.

Within 20 minutes of Foxwoods is Mystic, CT. There's Old Mystick Village to wander the shops of. Right next to it is the Mystic Aquarium. Few minutes down the road is Mystic Seaport. You can't go wrong with any seafood in that area. The Bleau Squid at Mystick Village have out of this world grilled cheese sandwiches and cupcakes. Hit Franklin General Store for the fudge. Clyde's Cider Mill is near Mystic and should be open in October. They press the cider there and make fresh cider donuts.

In Groton you can tour the Nautilus Submarine. You can visit Fort Griswold in Groton and Fort Trumbull across the river in New London. In Groton, you don't want to pass up on Paul's Pasta. It's family owned and they make the pasta there fresh daily.

Disclaimer: Foxwoods is in the area I've grown up in and I worked there for several years. All my suggestions around Foxwoods are based on a native's opinions. Smiley smile

I hope this gives you some good ideas to enjoy your honeymoon and make it memorable. Smiley smile

Thank you so much Tanya! I love hearing native recomemdations! I’m definitely going to talk with my FH about these! They all sound great! Do you know if Paul’s Pasta has any gluten free options? My fiancé has celiac but we love our pasta!

I've heard great things about Cape Cod. Salem and Boston are always a great time too and beautiful that time of year!
