New Dress or Alterations?

Kelly, on February 23, 2021 at 11:02 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
So I've recently become a but healthier. Partially for the wedding, partially because I needed to, and turns out I really like working out. But I purchased my dress when I was 25 pounds heavier and 2 sizes ago. Worth it to alter? Or take it back to DB because they say we can work out an exchange. Wedding is 8/28/21, so they want me to come in immediately.

Pics for reference, size when I bought the dress and now. New Dress or Alterations? 1

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss and healthy lifestyle. You look great! I would go and meet with the alterations person and get their opinion on what would need to be done and then make your decision. Good luck!

I agree that going to meet with a professional is the best call. The person doing the alterations will be able to tell you if the structure of the dress will remain after taking it in. I believe though that most dresses can be taken in two sizes without losing the integrity of the dress. Your dress is gorgeous and you look stunning in it so hopefully you'll be able to get it altered!

I agree with this! Have you tried on your dress after losing the weight? Only asking because I've lost 30+ lbs since I bought my dress a year ago but it doesn't fit too baggy. Obviously I haven't had it altered yet because my big wedding was postponed, but my weight loss was in my stomach area which I was gonna need altered anyways. Also, it depends on if you want to continue to lose weight before your wedding. Congratulations!

That’s awesome!!! Congrats on your weight loss journey! I lost 50 & after I got a tummy tuck with liposuction. Our wedding is on 4/3/21 & I started alterations at the 6 week mark.
I’d start with trying on your dress & seeing how much it’ll cost for alterations. Have your Plan B set up in case you have to get a different dress.
