New Covid Restrictions

How are all of you dealing with the new covid restrictions as we are going through this second (terrifying) surge? We’re from the city but getting married upstate in 12/05 and I am having a lot of anxiety about it. We’ve already postponed the big event to 12/2021 but we still want to legally get married this year. I feel like we are doing everything we can to be as safe as possible but I’m still starting to freak out a bit as we get closer ... We have exactly 10 people (immediate family + our judge/photographer) and we are doing everything at a private Air BnB to be away from other folks. We are all going to be masked for the ceremony (which is outside, even if it’s freezing and snowing) and we aren’t crossing paths with anyone dropping off food or flowers for the dinner afterwards. ALL OF THAT SAID I genuinely don’t trust that everyone coming is being as safe as we have been because, frankly, my fiance’s family is a bit too cavalier for our liking.

Any of you been dealing with similar issues? How have you been approaching it? I’ve already gotten into a fight with my sister (who would be traveling from Boston) over not wanting her to take a train, and I don’t know if I have it in me to battle with more people about health and safety guidelines.

We are having our small wedding on LI on 12/5 too and I also have family coming from Boston. I’m right there with you! A lot of anxiety and people asking me what is going on. I’m taking it day by day and my fiancé keeps reminding me we are still getting married that’s what is most important!

We're planning a *5* person Thanksgiving, all of whom have already been in our bubble and have been cautious, and I'm still freaking out. (My in-laws usually have one of those "catch-all" Thanksgivings, where it's not just us, it's "orphans" and neighbors and it's all crammed into an UWS apartment.)

Like, it's going to be my ILs, my SIL and her new dog, and us. I barely leave the house. ILs already had it/are cautious. SIL is also super cautious. DH works outside the home, but is always masked.

    So, I totally feel you.

All I can say is stay masked, and maybe make it clear that if people aren't careful, they should reconsider coming?

    I'm sorry.

So glad I’m not alone in this. We have basically decided to open up our bubble to our family for the full two weeks before hand (starting tomorrow). Thankfully all of us are lucky enough to WFH and never leave our houses/apartments as it is, but my Fiancé is going so far as to drive up and back to Boston to pick up our family members up there so that we can all quarantine together / no one has to travel on mass transit.

I thought the big weddings were supposed to be stressful, but that has to be a cakewalk compared to all of this.
