New and overwhelmed

Johnnie, on January 6, 2020 at 9:27 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

My fiancé is a wonderful woman. She proposed to me. She is the one who works whereas I’ve taken the traditional stay home role. She has given me an unlimited budget to work with.

Other than the fact that she is going to be the groom, this will be a traditional wedding. I’ve never worn makeup or a dress before so this is going to be a new experience.

I am totally overwhelmed with the amount of things I need to do! Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Johnnie

Start with the guest list and location of the wedding and then look for a venue. After that, you can work on selecting vendors. Check out the checklist on this website for help. Good luck!

Even though you are taking on the traditional bride role, you can (and should) still get her involved in making the big decisions! We started by getting an estimated head count and then I picked out a bunch of venues I liked, and FH helped me narrow it down. Touring venues can be a lot of fun.

If you don't feel comfortable with lots of makeup and a dress, no-one says you have to do those things. My friend wore a white jumpsuit for her wedding and looked amazing. But of course, if you WANT the chance to try those things out, just make sure you have supportive friends/family to help you make decisions and do trials for your hair/MU!

    Hey there!
Have you set a date? Once you do, start out with a venue, once that is decided, things will start to flow and fall in to place.

My advice, take one thing at a time. Make a list of what you are planning and focus on one, Mark it off, then on to the next.
Rome, wasn't built in a daySmiley smileI chose my venue after my fiancee and I decided on a budget.
Our catering was included in our package, so that was another thing off the list.
I then focused on a photographer, then got my dress, and so on.Just don't look at the big picture yet, or it may stress you
    Congratulations! You will do fine!

Thank you. I actually have no family and all my friends are the wives of my fiancé co-workers. I’m with them ALL the time. Lol

They are definitely supportive of my wearing a wedding dress, and if it makes Kim’s day even better, I’m all for it.

Lol I’m already stressed. Yes we’ve set a date, March of next year, but it just seems like I don’t have enough time!

I told my friends that in planning my own wedding I found going simpler was better aha in hindsight I wish I reduced the things I had. So if you're overwhelmed, I'd 1) find a venue that does everything for you or 2) reduce the items you need such as cutting out favors and making decor simple or cutting that out too

There’s just so much I don’t know yet. And my fiancé is leaving this all to me.
