Nespresso, ninja coffee brew, or keurig for specialty drinks? Votes appreciated!

Bee, on August 23, 2016 at 6:16 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

We're currently working on our registry and want to add something to the list so we can make our own frappuccino's and macchiatos at home. We're not straight up espresso or coffee drinkers - only when made as fattening as possible do we consume it. We would like the straight up option for guests though. We also each visit Starbucks daily for these drinks (hence the attempt to make it at home and save money). So for those that have made specialty drinks from these machines, which would you prefer? My thoughts: I like that the ninja wouldn't use the single use cups which hurt the environment. However, the ninja doesn't produce true espresso so not sure how different it would taste in drinks that require espresso. Keurig is just in the mix since I know those pods come in a variety of flavors.

I just use a keurig and a reusable pod because we just drink regular coffee so I don't want to pay for the pods. But if you're looking for good quality espresso beverages I'd recommend a nespresso. It's totally on my bucket list. (Full disclosure I don't know anything about the ninja)

Following/bump, I have a small Keurig right now but the guy at bb&b was trying to talk me into registering for a nespresso. I was planning on getting a giant Keurig. Not sure if the nespresso pods are available everywhere like the k cups.

The ninja! Not only are you getting a really reputable and high quality brand, but they're super cool. We can't wait to start our registry because we've been dying for one of those.

I've heard the Nespresso is better but the downside is that the cups aren't available everywhere. However, their cups can be sent back and they recycle them! I've tried different Kcups for regular coffee and haven't really been impressed with Keurig. The coffee to me is weak.

I've never purchased a ninja product (atleast from what I can remember) so good to know they're reputable! I've been looking at online reviews for all three but most of the positive reviews for NInja seem to be sponsored (makes sense since it's new).

    None of the above.

You will not get good espresso flavor out of those machines. Register for a simple, introductory espresso maker instead. Should be in the $150-300+ price range. Needs to steam milk.

We bought this for BIL as a birthday gift. He loves it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001CNG7RY/ref=s9_top_hm_awbw_b1DNM_g79_i10?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=mobile-hybrid-12&pf_rd_r=Q0KQD1WW2EK0YKCTSDQ1&pf_rd_t=30901&pf_rd_p=a8e94194-144c-5b7c-9a1e-3575b1d72d53&pf_rd_i=289748

One of my coworkers has the ninja and they love it. I registered for the nespresso though because we wanted the expresso option on occasion. If your wanting to make these drinks everyday you could register for the ninja to get regular and frap option but consider adding a Moka pot. It's a stove kettle specifically for expressos which you can use to make your drinks without the pods

I've never used it, but the Ninja looks really cool! I was just at a networking event and chatted with someone from the company who said there's an even better version coming out soon. Not sure when, but I'd assume before Christmas-in time to update your registry!

We have a Keurig 2.0 (so we can also use it to make small pots) and a Nespresso machine. We use the Keurig regularly and the Nespresso for after dinner & company. I order most of the pods online so it's not an issue to get them. Personally, I love the Nespresso...I used to have an espresso maker and it was a huge pain in the ass. In Canada most of the pods are recyclable, so I don't have an issue there.

Oh my gosh I love our Ninja coffee bar!

Eta: we also have a keurig 2.0. I suggest a ninja coffee bar. It does everything.

Ps. Can you tell I take my coffee seriously? Lol

Nespresso is deeeeelish! And you can either buy them at Bloomingdale's, Target, or online. I also buy Ghirardelli syrups on Amazon to make flavored coffee and have a frother I don't use as often. Go by and try out the coffee if you can.

I got the Ninja for Christmas and use it EVERY day. It has honestly changed my life. I had a Keurig for years but as my taste in coffee changed I found that I never liked any of the coffee pods they have. Even the Starbucks brand or Dunkin just didn't taste right. I got the Keurig Rivo for Christmas the year before last and I HATED it. You can only buy one brand of pod (Lavazzo?) and it tasted terrible. With the Ninja I make iced and hot coffee, iced and hot lattes and it comes with a big book of awesome recipes! I did buy a separate milk frother just because I like it extra frothy and I didn't like how it came out doing it by hand. I now make my coffee at home instead of stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin every morning (saving tons of money!) I would definitely recommend! I feel like a salesperson because I literally tell everyone how much I love it!

I have the keurig and a regular coffee pot, but rarely use the keurig(my dad insisted on buying it for us when he was visiting)

I registered for an expresso machine. One of 2 bigger ticket items that we wanted. I drink a lot of expresso.
