Nervous about the first dance, only because of the song choice

Alison , on July 6, 2018 at 7:41 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Hi WW! I’ve recently been trying to find a reputable dance studio that specifically offers wedding dance. My FH and I are smitten by Vienna by Billy Joel. I thought someone my age would never know that song, and on our first date, it came on his playlist and I freaked out, and he freaked out because he thought HE was the only one (in our age group) who listens to that. So that was a butterflies in our stomachs moment for sure. The problem I’m having is that A) there are no other videos of a couple dancing to this song and
B) it’s pretty long, and may be too boring for the others.
I know that DJs can shorten songs with choreography, I just would LOVE to see one example. So if you can help a sista out, I’d really appreciate it ❤️

Sorry I cant help, but I hopped in just to say that Vienna by Billy Joel is my favorite song ever ever ever.
If you have a videographer, I'd love it if you could post a video after the wedding 😍

The DJ can shorten the song even if you don't choreograph a dance.

My fiance and I are dancing to Ellie Goulding, Love Me Like You Do. (In 8 days!) Not a typical song to dance to due to the music count and rhythm. But the choreographer at the dance studio is making it work! She's mixing it up between samba style and Waltz Style dancing. If you want the song shortened have that version BEFORE you go to the dance studio. They will need the exact version you'll be dancing to.
We found our instructor at a bridal fair. But pretty much any dance studio should be able to work with a couple.

Hey there, me again! So I just went to YouTube to look up the song Vienna, and I found one that is 3:35 long from the 13 Going on 30 soundtrack! Go get yourself that CD online. I hope that helps! Ps. Since our song is sort of long we are going to do a little hugging and posing at the end for pictures for the last few seconds. That was actually our choreographers suggestion.

Nice idea (the pics toward the end)!! Our song is rather long so our dance instructor also recommended that the DJ start to play it, then announce us and we walk to the dance floor..... That will take up some time for sure and seems easier than making the song shorter as there wasn't a good place to just cut it off.

If you both like it. Do it. Half the people eat / drink and socialize and don’t watch the dances anyway. It’s your day. You pick what you want

We are only going to dance for about 30 seconds of our song and then we will invite other couples to join us. The first dance is always so weird to me. This way we don't have to dance to the whole song alone while guests are bored.

Love love love that song and Billy! We haven’t discussed yet, but I’m hoping FH will agree to dance to You’re My Home.
