I apologize ahead of time if this has been previously posted but I need some insight. We toured our first venue last week and it was breathtaking, everything that we could ask for with the exception of price and catering option. I received a proposal for another venue today (we will tour it tomorrow) but they are willing to include absolutely everything for $48.20 less than the first venue alone. I feel like I won't love the 2nd venue like the 1st so I was thinking about trying to negotiate the price with the owner. The 1st venue is a brand new venue and they have only hosted 1 event so far. Do you think attempting to negotiate is a good idea? And if so, how should I approach it?

They do have an on site caterer but her fee is separate from the venue fee. If we chose our own we wouldn't have access to the kitchen. All inclusive using their caterer would run us right 10k and that's with a buffet style dinner.

@Celia I disagree to some degree. Yes I need them but they also need the business. If it was am established place with a proven record then I wouldn't try but this is a brand new facility and word of mouth is the best advertisement.

After viewing the ugly carpet venue tomorrow we will start comparing and see what leverage we have and go from there.

Who knows I might fall in love with the ugly carpet.

If you really love the first venue that much then asking questions never hurts. They are a business, I'm sure they'd rather book a party then have the space empty and not making them any money. My venue offered me a Friday night or Sunday for less, but when i told them i was set in a Saturday due to many family members coming in from OOT they at least lowered my minimum guest requirement a bit to help my budget concerns. I wouldn't tell them anything about what another venue is quoting you, just tell them you really like their venue but its a bit outside your budget and let them offer up what they can do to get your business.

Keep us posted. The brand-iest newest venue in my area? They are booked until late 2018 with like three Saturdays....at over 200.00 per head.

Whether you can negotiate them into giving you more for the same price is unlikely - venues offer what they offer and if you're really looking for an all inclusive venue you may want to keep searching to find a happy medium between the two.

You may be able to negotiate for something specific though!

we negotiated our price per head down by requesting we eliminate a course and go from a four course meal to a three course meal ( having an appetizer sounded redundant to us after such an extensive cocktail hour).

personally if the second venue is all inclusive AND only 50$ a head. Ugly carpet be damned that is not a deal to pass up and at the end of the day no one s going to remember the carpet anyway.

But I'm a sucker for great deal
