I have never considered doing a dollar dance, but we went to a wedding this past weekend and they did one and it was a lot of fun. We are a young couple starting out so it would be helpful and a lot of fun. I know a lot of people don't carry cash anymore so I was just wondering everyones thoughts on...

I've been to a wedding where this was done and was a bit offended. I had scraped money together to get to the wedding, and did the same to give them a nice gift (not to mention the time spent FINDING the gift I wanted to give them). I was quite happy to do all that, but when the $ dance came up, I felt like they were just being greedy.

I think a $ dance is only appropriate if one or both of the families do this as a CULTURAL TRADITION. And if it is only cultural for one part of the family, then the DJ or somebody should explain the tradition and history of the dance to those who aren't familiar with it, so they don't come away feeling taken advantage of.

At my brothers wedding a cpl yrs ago, they did it, they had the MOH (her sister) stand at the dj table with a cute apron on with pockets, she put the money in her apron, (this way their was no pinning) she also had boxes of jello shots to give to each guest that pd to dance Smiley smile

I hate to be a kill joy but I think its tacky. I always opt not to participate when I see it done. However it is your day and you should do what will be fun for you and your guests.

I thought about doing it after my friend did it at her wedding but decided against it. The money is nice and it would be fun but I think it is boring for the guests. I noticed many people leave around that time b/c they get bored and I don't want people to leave b/c we are dancing with all these other people one at a time. I dont really think its tacky though, I say if you want to do it then do it.
