Need help with invitation - stuffing envelopes!

Kari, on May 19, 2011 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I ordered my invitations from an Etsy seller and I am very happy with them. The invite is just a single card (front and back). The reply postcard is perforated to tear off and mail back. I ordered them with white envelopes.

With the ceremony/reception at the same venue- we are not including maps or a reception card.

Here is my problem. The envelopes that came with the invites are not very thick, so you can see through it a bit.. (I am at work and do not have a picture of one in the envelope but will post one later.)

Any ideas on how to mask this? I really do not want to order more envelopes because they would have to be thicker = $$$ and I need 280. I was thinking of tissue paper- but I feel like that would krinkle and look super messy in such a large envelope.

Thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! Smiley smile

Just buy outer envelopes to enclose the inner ones inside. This is the traditional/formal way of addressing the invitations anyway. You can use the envelopes you have to write recipient's first names. {John and Kate} The outer envelopes can be purchased in a slightly larger standard size and these present the formal address. {Mr. and Mrs. John Smith} What size are the envelopes you have?

Maybe buy some paper, and add a liner?

Try contacting the seller to see if they have an alternate envelope they can send you, or if they can make a suggestion to help with the transparency. Explain what's going on and that you didn't expect the envelope to be so thin. Seems like you had a pretty decent size order, the seller may be willing to work out a soulution for you. It can't hurt to ask! Otherwise, I would strongly consider what goskell and Hayley C. suggested. Both are really good options.
