Need help on table number order

Michelle, on February 16, 2018 at 10:59 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
Hi there, I’m in the final stages of planning the wedding and I’ve found that I’m having a difficult time deciding on how to number my tables at the reception. I chose a layout that puts the dance floor at the center of attention, but it’s making it hard to find the natural order of the tables. I’m looking for an intuitive way to number the tables so that the guests aren’t running around all confused looking for the tables. I’ve provided a picture of the layout I’m looking for. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. I’ve already ordered table numbers.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you include a map of the table layout next to the seating chart or escort cards, guests can find their table on the map before they go look for their table.

If the dance floor is at the center, maybe just do odds on one side, evens on the other.

I would start at table 1 and go up as the go back- it doesn’t matter if your immediate family is at a specific number (ex: table 1 for your most important guests). Make it flow it is just for people to know what table to sit at. Make it easy for them to find

Agree with PP! If you can have a map similar to what's attached with tables labeled that should be enough! As far as order tho..I would put 1-7 at those first tables where guests enter and 8-12 for the set past the dance floor! If the three circle at the bar area are also actual tables and not cocktail tables I would continue 13-15 there! 😊

I would start at the door and work my way back, so 1 through 7 by the entrance and then 8 through 12 for the tables on the other side of the dance floor.

My question is about the doors. Is there a way for the group of people near the guest enterance able to get to the cocktail/ bar area without crossing the dance floor?

The doors of the guest entrance and cocktail hour are connected by a foyer, so they could go through there if they don’t want to go through the dance floor.

I would put table 1 closest to the cocktail hour so guests can see how the numbers progress

I would just start table 1 where the guests will be entering (so those first two tables by the guest entrance doors would be tables 1 and 2, and then the two tables closest to the bar area would be tables 11 and 12). Usually, I expect tables numbers to be ordered in numerical order, so if I was at table 9, and I am standing by table 3, I know I need to walk in the direction of increasing numbers.

Thanks! I’m going to start the count from the guest entrance!
