Need advice/tips/suggestions on a 10k budget wedding

May, on August 27, 2019 at 11:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello,

My husband and I are planning our Anniversary Wedding. We have yet had a real wedding. We got married at the Court since we were moving around and settling since he served the military. Now we are settled and have a baby so we are on a tight budget and still want a wedding celebration with our love ones. Any suggestions or tips? We are currently looking at Community Center for a Venue. I talked to some wedding planners they charge way too much. Advice? tips? Suggestions?

A lot of local parks allow you to have a wedding there for free or a very small fee to reserve for the day. Or you could look into a church with a rec facility. My sister had her wedding there with the ceremony in the church and the reception in what was essentially a large gym (no alcohol allowed though).

A community center is not a bad place for a venue. My FH and I are doing our wedding at one owned by a house association and so far they have been very kind and accommodating. If possible, hire your own caterer so you can do some shopping around for the best deals.

As said by person above, local parks and beaches are also a good option for lower cost venues (check park websites).

If you can do it, try to plan the wedding yourself and maybe you can just get a Day of Coordinator to do the program flow for your wedding to cut costs. Or have someone who is really good at organizing and doing events (that you know personally and trust) to do the coordinating for you as a wedding gift (just tip them after, which I will be doing at mine). Keep researching and always look for the best deals. You can do it!

    Best wishes to you!

We did our wedding for around 10k! It was mostly DIY things! We got married st a state park, DIY’d my HMU and flowers, DIY’d all my decor and kept florals and decor to a minimum since the park pavilion was naturally beautiful and on the lakeshore.. Got a deal on the DJ because hubby’s buddy is a pro DJ and have us a deal. found a reasonably priced photographer who turned out to be amazing! I ordered my dress online from Azazie, because the dress wasn’t a priority to me, so I didn’t want to spend tons of money on it and didn’t!

We decided that food, drinks, and photography were the most important to us. So we splurged on the food, chipped away at buying alcohol and did a serve yourself bar (which worked out PERFECTLY, and saved us a lot of money!). And I obsessively researched photographers to find the best for the cheapest, and she and her assistant turned out to be absolutely amazing and we loved them!!

It can definitely be done!! Just do your research, think minimalistic, don’t be afraid to DIY A LOT, and decide on what your two splurges will be!! We mainly just wanted an amazing party, and that’s what we had!!!

Considering that you had your wedding when you got married, framing this to yourself and vendors as an anniversary party or vow renewal might help you cut down on costs.

Our wedding was under $10K--and that included $3,000 just for the rabbi and synagogue. So it's definitely doable. The most critical thing is limiting your guest list. If you have 250 people there, $10K won't go far.
