Need advice on what to do with cancelled wedding?

My ex-fiance and I was together for 6 years and sadly as of two weeks ago have cancelled the wedding (April 14, 2017) and broke up. My ex-fiance and I was together for 6 years and sadly as of two weeks ago have cancelled the wedding (April 14, 2017) and broke up. I contacted the venue (NOVA 535) to recoup some of the money, as I paid for everything and it's a no refund, but they did give me the options.

1) Either I cancel and they keep all the money.

2) I throw a party

3) I transfer to another bride for a transfer fee

4) transfer to another year for an insane amount I can't afford - but I am no longer marrying.

I am at a lost of what to do. I looked at a cancelled wedding website, but there doesn't seem to be any additional information or policies they have.

Do anyone have any options or suggestions I can do?

I also have a caterer set up, and a fully paid photo booth.

Will they arrange the transfer to the other bride, or do you have to find someone else who wants to get married there? If they do all the wotk I would definitely do the transfer option.

There is a site that you can sell your wedding in these cases. Look into b4 you give them all your money for nothing. Also read contract very carefully. Maybe a loop hole ...there estimated attrition is not really reasonable so look at cases in your jurisdiction. You may can sue them for unjust enrichment.

So sorry! I've seen that happen before though and they couldn't get their money back either so the bride decided to have a nice dinner at her venue for the homeless. Great way to give back! Good idea but it's up to you!

Sorry this is a crappy situation, but I would try option 3.

So sorry this happened to you. I personally would throw the party. I'm only 4 months out though so I have the dress and everything else which I would not waste! Hell yeah, I'd wear that thing to a party!!

I can't imagine you're in a party mood though, so you have to do what's best for you in the long run.

NOVA is a beautiful and popular wedding spot...I'm sure you can easily find someone willing to take over the contract for you! I'm so sorry that this happened to you...I'd be devastated.

Honestly if your Ex is the perpetrator of the breakup so to speak then he should reimburse you .

If he won't pay at least half I might sue him. But I'm a Bitch that way.

I'm so sorry this is happening.

I hope that your ex-fiancee is footing half the bill for canceling, if appropriate.

    I'm very sorry.

I'm so so sorry that you're having to go through this. I hope you have lots of love surrounding you from all directions right now.

As for Nova, that's actually our venue! I agree with the others, it's super popular and a really cool space, I'm sure you could find someone to take it off your hands easily.

    Hugs!

I'm so sorry. Hopefully the ex will help pay. Option 3, but I think that's probably pretty clear now.

Have you joined the Tampa Wedding Swap Facebook page? That would be a good place to try to find brides who would want to swap. The only thing, April in Florida is when it starts to get warm so it may not be an ideal weekend but worth a shot

Do you have to find a bride to take your date? Or can you just pay the $495 and walk away?
