Need a Recessional?

Melanie, on November 26, 2019 at 5:59 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9

This may be a silly question, but do you need a recessional? We're getting married on the beach, so figured we take pictures right there once the ceremony is over.

I think you could do a mini one. But you should at least walk back out the aisle that you walked in . Then you can take photos !

The order is normally bride and groom followed by their bridal party starting with the maid of honor and best man so that part is fairly easy. Since you are having it on the beach, I would recommend bubbles since they evaporate in the air and you don't have to worry about people litering with other things they might throw. For a song there are a ton of suggestions online for recessional songs.

We got married on the beach and we walked back to the end of the aisle and then took pictures.

You’ll want to exit simply so people get the hint to move over. Is a formality of ending the ceremony otherwise people would be confuse if they should stay to look at you taking pictures. It makes it a smoothly transition. You can exit and then come around for your pictures once is clear up. One of my favorite moments was once i walked out and I had those few seconds with my husband for us to really admire each other. We then got embraced by our bridal party and parents and it was truly special.

You don't have to have anything for the guests to throw and Veronica is right, it'll be you and your new H, then bridal party, beginning with MOH and BM. As far as songs, there are a lot listed online - we used Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours."

Our recessional shots are among my favorites - there's a "OMG we did this!" joyful look on our faces like no others. Also, we had a moment to ourselves while everyone cleared out before we went to do the pictures.

All of that to say: you don't have to do anything - but you may want to.

For us the recessional song was the celebration. All the music up to that moment set the tone for a romantic moment. The recessional sets the tone for the joy of the reception. That doesn't mean it's necessary, just a fun way to change moods.
