Necklace Frustrations

Danielle, on March 6, 2019 at 10:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I bought my necklace and earrings for the big day, and I love them. BUT, the necklace will not stay flat on one side. It keeps twisting. So annoying, and there is no way I'll be okay with it doing that. Before I submit to returning the jewelry and looking for something else, any advice on what I can do to get it to stay flat?

Oh yeah, that would bug me too! I have no idea what you could try. Why is it flipping? I’d there too much tension? Or maybe not enough weight? The only thing I can think of would be double-sided tape, but then it won’t move naturally.

I have no clue. I tried adjusting the length, but still happened. It isn't a heavy necklace at all, so that could be it. I'm thinking I'm just going to have to return it and keep looking. Sucks though, because I really did like it (when it laid flat, lol).

I don't know. I couldn't figure it out. I tried adjusting the length, but no results.

I was going to suggest something with the clasp too! It's a beautiful necklace!

Is it costume jewelry? Could you superglue that twisting part so it can't twist?

Yeah, I got if from Charming Charlies. I'm unsure on how I would super glue it though?

The links that are turning - glue them straight. Put necklace on wax paper flat and then glue them.

Find someone who can restring your necklace with fine wire so that it will sit how you want. A jeweler or a good friend who makes jewelry can do this. I need my necklace a tad shorter because it is to long. Our backup organist who who likes to make jewelry has offered to help.

Ohhhhh.....that is a good idea. I might have to try that, thank you. Luckily the set only cost $28, so If I mess it up and can't return it, I'm not at a huge loss.

Is there metal rings connecting the pieces? Perhaps one was put on backwards and you just need to bend it or open the ring and turn it

Have you tried twisting the necklace a half turn before connecting the clasp?

I was thinking the exact same thing, but I don't know how well that would actually hold.
