Name change

Emily, on August 1, 2020 at 10:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
So question! We postponed our october wedding to next year due to covid. We still plan to marry this year on our original date but have a huge ceremony and wedding next year. Due to already having booked our honeymoon and such i can't change my name till next urar after our honeymoon( passport, ss and your tickets have to match).

There isn't a time frame after marriage to change your name correct? Its okay to change it after a year of marriage?

It depends on your state. Your county clerk should be able to tell you.

I got married almost two years ago and I’m just now in the process of changing my name! Good call on not doing it right now because new passports aren’t being processed and social security offices are closed.

It depends on where you live. I'm pretty sure where I live you can definitely change your name with your marriage license for up to 2 years after the wedding, and they might still let you do it after that. If you look up your local social security office (I don't know why they're all different) you should be able to get the most accurate information from them. I'd check the one closest to your new address since you're moving.
