Name cards

Jennifer, on July 2, 2019 at 12:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Are name cards really necessary? I am planning on having a frame with each table number and the list of guests sitting there but I don’t really want to do name cards at the tables. Is that weird? Has anyone done this before?

As long as you have assigned tables, I don't think it's necessary to assign specific seats.

We're doing a seating chart instead of escort cards for a few reasons:

    - The cost of 100 escort cards was obviously more than 10 5x7 cards.

    - We're double purposing our welcome sign to have the seating chart on the back. All the venue staff need to do is move the easel and flip it over.

    - And our venue didn't really have space to fit 2 tables worth of escort cards.

You are basically doing a seating chart which is totally fine and all people really need unless it’s a really big wedding. Finding your name on those charts at big weddings is hard. I did one but I only had 55 people so it was easier for people to locate their name in the chart. Just something to think about

We are doing individual name cards, but we are having a fairly small wedding. We discussed numbering tables, but I didn't want a sign mixed in with my centerpieces. I think if you have one then you can skip the other!

Sounds great ladies! We are having about 130 people so it’s a pretty big wedding but I was planning on texting 1 member of each table to say you are at table _ 😊

I'm only doing them because we're having a plated dinner, and I want it to be easy for the wait staff to find who ordered what dish, etc.! I think a big seating chart at the front when they walk in is sufficient, and each table labeled with the number.

I think just a seating chart is ok, just make sure it's legible and alphabetical somehow - either a list of names alphabetically or each table listed alphabetically.
