Nails: regular french or ombre french?

Erin, on May 10, 2017 at 11:16 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I decided to go with acrylic nails for the wedding Saturday.. I've never had them before but ny nails are torn to shit right now due to moving and having finals and college graduation last week. I had a friend recommend a ombre french to me and i like the idea of it but I'm just not sure its "bridal" or that it even looks good in person. I've only seen pics, so I'm not really sure what to do. I will go with shorter, more squoval acrylics than what is pictured, this is just the first pic i found on Pinterest. What do you guys think? Has anyone ever had this done? Also any tips for a first time fake nail wearer would be great!

These are the new polygel nails you can get wherever they use gelish. Very bridal looking and more natural than pink white French tips.

I like ombre french. Still a nod to tradition but much more modern.

I'm also a fan of the look of ombre french. I have never had nice fake nails put on, but I have worn drug store glue on nails for performances, and I'd say for your first time don't get them too long, and be really careful not to stab yourself in the eyes or scratch yourself when putting on makeup, I have def done both.

I think the ombre french is very pretty! I may consider getting that myself!

For those who have had them done in gel... do you just show them a picture and the nail tech knows what to do?

Ombre French for sure. I think regular French is dated.

Make sure your nail place is capable first, though. The ombre will be considered nail art at many places.

I just got these done on Friday and love it! It also a gel manicure, french tips with a design on the ring fingers. I love it and it is still staying on, no chips or anything! This was my first time with gel an I must say, i am hooked!

@Masada, when I go to the salon for nail art (i.e., anything other than a solid color) I bring my inspo pic on my phone so they know what I'm looking for.

If you're not sure your salon can handle it, get a trial manicure a few weeks before to see if they're capable and if you like the way it looks on you.

Thank you @CoffeeNColor, I have my bridal shower this weekend and was going to get my nails done for it. I think I'll bring a pic as suggested and see if they are able to accommodate this look!

I'm actually not a huge fan of the ombre look, but your hands so it's up to you!

I don't get my nails done reguarly enough to know whether my nail salon could do something like this and I wouldn't want it to look crappy for my wedding, so I guess it would depend on whether you know they would be able to recreate successfully.

I like the ombré French! Though I prefer the white instead of @svetlana's suggestion. The dark pink almost looks dirty like your nails aren't clean to me

I currently have gel polish regular French and I like it a lot. The ombré is super pretty too though. I might actually want to try that myself!

@Jenny yeah I would have liked to just do gel, that's what I normally do, but I'm a nail biter, especially under times of stress. And the past few weeks have been super stressful, so my nails are so short. Like past the whites short

I'm a sucker for the regular French myself (and will probably do that for my wedding), but I do think that the ombré might give it a little extra "pizzaz" !
