Nails for dummies

Victoria, on October 13, 2017 at 9:19 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I need help--I'm a nail virgin...I don't get my nails done ever... give me the 411 on what I should get/ask for when I go to get my nails done on Tuesday. Pros and cons of different types of nails: gel, acrylic, SNS etc. Thanks in advance.

If you want to add length I personally prefer acrylic nails. If you go natural length do a manicure with gel polish.

I don't ever get my nails done either but the gel manicure in a neutral (Bubble Bath by OPI) worked really well for me! It's your own real nails, but it makes them feel stronger so I didn't have to worry about breaking a nail, and the color didn't chip at all. I'm still wearing it, actually.

Your nails would look very nice with gel - they're not too long or too short.

If you decide to go with acrylic don't let them talk you into a "square tip". Ask them to match your natural nail shape. It will look more natural and not as harsh in your pictures, especially if you have never had them done.

Not sure what I'm getting either since I really don't do my nails. But I do like SNS what my MOH does. Looks really nice and her nails don't seem to be tore up after they r gone.

I absolutely LOVE SNS- I have had everything over the years, acrylics, gel, regular polish, and SNS is my favorite! It doesn't tear up my fingernails when removed, but gives your nails strength like an acrylic without being so thick. I will never do anything different to my nails now! It lasts forever!

Since you never get your nails done I would stay away from acrylic (it ruins your nails) and will take awhile for them to grow out healthy again. You have pretty natural nails so I would get a gel manicure since it stays on longer than a regular manicure and doesn't ruin your nails (unless you continue to get them done all the time without letting them breath). I have never gotten SNS and don't know much about it (but I thought they still have to file down your nails like acrylic - don't quote me on this so I could be wrong)

SNS is what I get done every two to three weeks.

I got my first manicure ever this summer before my wedding. I did gels because I play a lot of sports and every time I've painted my nails myself they chip a ton. I loved it! You have really nice nails, I chew mine so they are stubbier. I got a gel manicure again 2 weeks before the wedding to stop me from chewing my nails. I really enjoyed getting my nails done, hope you do too!

I prefer short nails. I got gel nails which look really nice and the polish lasts. They will look bad from being grown out before the actual polish chips or anything. My wedding was a month and a half ago and my nails are still unhealthy from getting gels though Smiley sad they are chipping and peeling. (The nails thenselves) so it’s not something I would ever do on a regular basis.
